I am not an insurance guy, but I would not think a GL policy would pay for an injured worker, if it did why would people buy WC coverage?
Either way, I would want proof of both if it were my property

So what is the purpose of a WC policy?

I highly doubt he gets out that cheap. If it was out in the middle of a pasture or something he could spend $750.
I'd say $2500 would be a good deal on something that confined and close to a house
ETA: Another good idea to save some coin is to get them to just get it on the ground and deal with it yourself after the fact. Hauling it off is a HUGE part of the expense. If all they have to do is get it on the ground the price will go down considerably.

Up in that part of the world, we smoke with hickory.
Pecan and hickory are first cousins. Hickory is faster growing so we graft pecan onto hickory stock.

If we're in a pasture I'd do it myself

I do have quite a few able bodies in my family and trailers.

At first I'm thinking, Ahmmm that's about right. ~ Looking at the tree I'm thinking now that's a little bit high. That tree could be limbed down fairly easy. ~~ I had an oak (close to the house) taken down a few years back that would make that tree look like a sapling. Less than $4,500 and it included grinding the stump. Keep shopping!

A CGL policy issued to a tree cutting service will not cover a homeowner being sued due to an injury to a tree company's employee.

FWIW, I just had one removed a few months ago that was leaning over my house and it was $1150.
