we were putting out feeders but decided this year to put out potted plants for them. We have one feeder and 3 plants and the hummingbirds prefer the plants over the feeder. We have Sage (Salvia)

and Cardinal Flower.

We put out our feeders, but they never really touched them. They really seem to love the shrimp plant outside our bedroom window, though.

I have a juvenile that has ‘claimed’ my feeder and is chasing the others away constantly

Finished mowing the yard Friday night, and my wife was standing next to a lantana bush and said "look at the baby hummingbird."

Damn hornworm moth.

I’ve only had a few this year. I don’t know if it’s because there aren’t many or that there’s an abundance of natural nectar sources.

I've had 5-6 regulars at my feeders in the back yard here in central Oklahoma for the last several years. This year, only two have been around sporadically. I have, however, seen more out in the wild than ever here.

I think it's the consistent rainfall we've had all year. Usually my lawn is scorched brown this time of year but I mowed a plush green carpet again today. Those big Orange honeysuckles are still bloomed all around me when they're usually zapped by now, so I think there's just an overabundance of nectar resource for them, thus making my feeders less attractive.

My first sighting was on West Claude Street in Lake Charles yesterday on a feeder. The home owner said that also they have a condo off Lafayette Exit 104 and the hummingbirds have arrived in rather large numbers.

Been back for a few weeks in greater BR. 1x weekly refill right now on my feeder, making the sugar water, not using the red stuff. For some reason none of them are messing with the second feeder I put up though. I saw a new guy yesterday, very distinct markings.

We've had two feeders up all summer. They've been visited regularly. This weekend, not so much. I think our birds have headed south.

I've got 5 feeders up and have to refill them every three days.

Damn things are about to break me. We have two fancy feeders and three $5 el cheapos from WM. They always empty the cheap ones first.

1 cup of sugar to 3 cups water and NO food coloring.

I usually have 10-15 at any given time of the day so the results speak for themselves.

That's a stout mix. I do 1 to 4.
