You know what pisses me off most about the Washington St. Exit?

No, it's not the fact that it constricts one of the busiest interstates in the country down to one lane.

No, it's not the fact that it's placement makes it a death trap for jackwagons trying to exit there after merging off I-110.

Hell, it's not even the fact that it's a seldom used and pointless exit that could be closed and alleviate huge issues.

It's that

If you somehow make it through the gauntlet without causing a wreck, and exit on the "Washington Street" exit, do you get to Washington street?

Adjacent to Washington street Maybe? Near it?

No...where you end up, is HERE

Wait, where the hell did Washington street go? you might ask.

Who the hell is Lorri Burgess? Must be someone inordinately famous and impactful to boot a founding father and our first president, right?

Just some recently dead councilwoman.
Road renamed after councilwoman.

Out of all the thousands of roads in the city-parish, why in the frick did they have to rename the one with a fricking shitty arse interstate exit associated with it!? And then not even change the sign.

It would take the City-Parish and DOTD 11 years and $20,000,000 to change the language on the sign.

Can anyone name a single other location in the country where a major interstate drops down to one lane?

This should’ve been fixed twenty years ago. It won’t get fixed in the next twenty.

What's the plan for the Washington Street exit with all the new construction?

I think its being removed entirely, hence the left-hand exit they plopped in at Terrace. Could be wrong though.

the "fix" was painting in a new lane that only extended the merge a few hundred feet

Takes the parish 2 minutes to decide to change the name of Washington street.

A decade of meeting to decide how to fix the damn sign.

Here's an idea.

Change Washington street BACK to Washington street and pick a road that doesn't have an interstate exit associated with it to name after some lady.

Been tried several times. Someone always screams "racist" eventually and the exit removal gets abandoned with the quickness.

It’s staying, but it will be improved to let traffic coming off the bridge exit and not restrict traffic flow.

Once you're halfway over the bridge, hit that far right lane, all the way down to the Washington st exit, passing everyone at a standstill. Merge over at the last second before you end up in the Hood. Not that hard.

Pretty sure it happens in San Antonio near downtown. Either 10 or 35, can't remember.

Pretty sure you ARE wrong.

That exit was built to alleviate people trying to be dumbfricks and cross three lanes to exit to Washington St. It has t worked.

They also talked about changing the Dalrymple exit to have a path going back toward Washington St to deal with the traffic that would be unable to get off there. Pretty sure that got shite canned by the lakeshore drive area residents.

That title has a lot of competition, including DCFS, State Police, Health and Hospitals, etc.

It should have never been constructed that way considering the bridge was constructed with 3 lanes on each side.
