Bear because 1 vs 1. The thick clothes aspect shows you assume a wolf is like a dog. I’ll try to find the pictures of the chase dogs that ran near a den of wolves somewhere out west. Horror movie massacre type scene.

A grizzly because at least I can get a few shots in on the animal that's going to kill me before it swats me and crushes something vital.
If I fight a wolfpack, the one in front of me getting hit with the bat isn't going to be the one that rips my throat out and stands over me so I can see it as I hear my ragged breath gurgling in the pooling blood as I die.

Me and my family survived 3 cheetahs. I made it to the car first and my wife like a boss calmly walked with our child in her arms. I was just hurrying to get the car in gear and go save them but she made it in the car before I could act.

If he stands up I'm going for the balls. Then I back off.
If its head first I'm after an eye. If I hit the eye he backs off. Else I'm dead.
Odds are he snaps me in two right off.
Not picking wolves. It'd be awful.
You can't postulate wolves just ate an elk before they came upon you.

First of all it’s going to take a lucky shot to kill or seriously wound a wolf or grizzly. So why would you want to have to make 5 lucky shots instead of one? Wolves hunt in packs, they would attack you from every direction at once. You don’t get to take them one at a time.
Give me the grizzly and just hope you can sneak the knife in his chest before he rips your face off

Bear- use the knife to sharpen the skinny end of the bat into a spear. Attract bear to you and allow the weight of the best to come down on the spear. Wrap neck and head in thick clothes and use knife for bears eyes and nose if bear is still struggling.
