Flat, open terrain? Mountains? Woods? Are the wolves looking to eat or did you happen into their territory? Also, how big a knife are we talking? Swiss Army knife? Bowie knife? We need details here.

The wolves. You'd die a horrible, slow death though. I think wolves will start eating you while you're alive.

lets say a 12" knife in Yellowstone park you wander into a wolf den or onto a momma bear with 2 cubs. They're not trying to eat you to survive both just want you the frick outta there to complete the scenario

Yeah, give me the wolves. If you can get to terrain to keep them surrounding you, then you have a much better shot. Your best chance is to inflict some pretty massive trauma with the bat on the first 2 and hope the rest back off. The bear is just going to fricking kill you either way.

it's really crazy how many people in this thread truly believe they can take on a 900 pound monster 1 on 1 over 5 large dogs.

ill take on threee bears....with a remington semi automatic, with a scope, and a hair trigger. That was the end of the 3 bears.

I think an MLB power hitter could get their bat on the head of a bear and crack its skull. Other than that, nah, we're all fricked in that scenario. You "might" be able to get kill hit with a knife on the bear, but you're still getting mulled while you're giving it. 5 wolves? Zero fricking chance.

Wolves aren't large dogs. Either scenario, the only way you survive is if the animal(s) don't care enough to finish you.

The knife is useless because if they're close enough that you can use it, you're done. Wolves are pack hunters, and you're not taking out all 5 before one gets you good. The bear is just too big and powerful to deal with.

I'd take the bear. If I fight, it probably ends faster that way. Getting torn apart by 5 wolves does not sound like a way I want to go.

yes they are. They oill caribou and elk by running them until exhaustion sets in and then they attack theyd be stomped if those animals arent tired. They are smart hunters but if you get to a place with your back up against a rock or something they arent that threatening.

And there is no chance that the knife does anything to the bear so just stop with that nonsense the bear would completely frick you up.

Wolves are far bigger, smarter, more powerful and bred to hunt in packs. There are certain dogs bred to protect people from wolves. Here's a photo of one:

That dog is just capable of killing a wolf or protecting. That's a pretty good demonstration of how big, strong and fast wolves are. They aren't domesticated like dogs.

I’d rather go with the bear. The wolves see you as food and will actively try to eat you. The bear will see you as a threat to cubs and if somehow you show yourself as not a threat, the bear probably would leave you alone.

Don’t see how you survive an attack from either. So I’m picking the one that might not frick with me.

No, you really dont. People have shot charging bears in the head with fricking guns and the bear keeps chugging along

I've watched enough Walker reruns to know exactly what to do in either of these situations

Walker VS Wolf

Walker VS Bear

So you are saying bears don't sh*t in the woods?

As to the question, 5 wolves

Bears can climb trees while wolves can not. Therefore climb tree and use knife to make spears you can hurtle down at wolves till you get lucky or they get bored.
