In my 50’s and I had never been to a podiatrist in my life. But it hurt like shite, so I went. It was fascinating what this lady foot whisperer (no pics) did right there in the chair. Basically a fourth of my big toenail is gone, never to return. Sore AF today and it looks weird. But I should be ready to play against A&M.

I have a newfound respect for these not-real-doctors.

Me too. Nail clippers, wife’s cuticle scissors, and rubbing alcohol does the trick every time.

Did she cut the root and burn it at the base? I’ve had to do that before, had one toenail that just never could grow straight. They cut it out at the base and burnt out the growth area so it couldn’t grow again

I had both my big toes done as a child and 30 years later I’ve never had another ingrown toenail.

I tried digging it out, but my problem was way down by the nail bed. There were limits to my surgical skills and my pain tolerance.

I had a bad ingrown toenail and did my own surgery a few years back.

It hurt like shite doing it but you just have to dig the side out and keep the skin pulled back for several days until the nail grows out past where it was embedded.

Then a year later I dropped a bookshelf in a box on my big toe and the toenail popped of so that would have taken care of it too. That sure hurt. My shoe filled up with blood.

I used to get ingrown toenails so bad that I was seeing a podiatrist routinely to get them removed. They tried everything to stop it from growing back but nothing would kill the nail. I swear my toenails are made from that shite they coated Wolverine's bones with.

Did both my big toes in 9th grade. Best thing ever. I do have skinny toe nails now, but holy hell they hurt like a muther. All good now. That was a long time ago.

We had to do the same thing on our oldest, cleats over the years have done a number on his feet.

I did the same

Dug all the roots out and everything.

Saved me a trip to the Dr.

Don't be so sure.....I had thisdone in my teens and they were supposed to kill the nail bed. Sonuvabeech if a new and seperate nail did not start growing. Had a split nail for years until they started fusing back together

I did some last night. My wife was very upset that I used the "good hand towel" to soak up all the blood.

I used to be plagued with ingrown toenails. I would perform my own "surgery", but despite dousing the area and tools with alcohol before and after, it would constantly get infected. Puss, swollen flesh, bloody socks, the whole bit. Finally had the surgery and haven't had one since

I’ve had ingrown toenail “surgery” 4 times. One for each side of each big toe.

Before that I got them all the time.

Haven’t had one since.

My 6 year old is already starting to get them. Poor bastard got my toenail genes instead of his mom’s

I did this one two days ago myself, soaked it in hot salt water first.

Cut a "V" in the top of your toenail and it will stop this, I messed this one up.
