This city has had a slow increase in violence, over the past 5 years especially, but she didn't care until two people she knew got shot.

city leadership
We've got full-blown idiocracy going on in NO, pandering and social experiments over safety and business.
Those worthless pieces of shite, mayor, admin and council, won't do anything.

A true Chocolate City is within the city leaders' grasp

Why would anyone want to stay in NOLA? You have a terrible PD, a mayor who cares more about taking down statues, high violent crime rate, terrible public schools, the list goes on.
I love NOLA, but something's gotta give.

I posted this in another thread, but it definitely applies here...
I love New Orleans like no other city. When I came down for Mardi Gras, I felt like I was home. But god damn, it's just so fricked up over there.
On top of that, I'm with an incredibly well paying company in my field, that will keep me working, as long as I'm willing to travel. But I just entered my mid 30s, and I don't want that lifestyle. I miss playing in bands, second lines, and Indian tribes.
But I also enjoy the feeling of safety. But it's safety with it if you feel like you're not living life? I guess you can say I'm having an existential crisis.

You can't make "mixed income" housing developments, cause they will become projects again. Upper middle class people aren't going to want to live next to those on welfare and housing assistance
Of the various social experiments touted by the Progressives, this was no doubt the most idiotic. I don't care how "Progressive" you are, NO ONE wants to live in the ghetto. Hell, they made a hit TV show about this very concept. The Jeffersons were moving on up and every one else wants to do the same.

What about the massive amount of people who aren't from here that keep moving to NOLA? 12 years ago that wasn't happening. People that lived here almost always grew up in the area. Now the transplants seem to out number the natives. Too bad all these transplants vote democrat.
Interested to see who will be the next Mayor. The current one as already checked out.

I love how they continue to pretend to believe they are just being good northeastern liberals, and somehow stay willfully ignorant to the fact that they are propping up and enabling a completely dysfunctional kleptocracy.

Most New Orleanians have already fought for the city, after Katrina. There were promises made that things were going to be different. New Orleans would go through a Renaissance. 12 years later and we are back waiting for Hurricane Lee to take his revenge
This. Aftermath of Katrina was third world enough. At least all the violent criminals fled the city. Now they are all back and N.O. Is back to being third world.

Bought a house in Metry and haven't looked back. Sucks that I no longer have to deal with the Iraq-level quality of streets, traffic/red light cameras on every street, crime spilling out everywhere, and bottom 1% education system but I'll manage to pull through
Once I have kids I'll have to leave LA all together so that'll be a bittersweet moment one day

I moved right before Katrina to go to law school with every intention of coming back. Given the downward spiral of the city since Katrina, I am very happy that I found employment and a home elsewhere. I love visiting New Orleans a couple of times a year, but f living there again.

It's a fricking war zone with people that don't even know how to shoot properly.

I have never ever felt unsafe in the city and I have lived here for two decades

Going by the current ratio of 80 murders to 156 days so far, it would be 190.

I lived in New Orleans during these years and I remember them well. So glad I got out of there.
