One of the hottest girls at my HS drove a red IROC, probably an 83 or 84.
Those were the car of choice for the 80s preps who wanted to look cool. For those who wanted a real muscle car, these were what they’d go with.
And at that time they were still very affordable, more affordable than a new IROC preppy car for sure.

Yeah but with modification:
Definitely a crate motor hopped up to at least 500hp
Tranny, drive shaft, and rear to handle new motor.
Make sure the chassis is reinforced so it doesn’t twist with the new motor.
Beefed up suspension (coil overs, heavy duty sway bars, tubular control arms, steering links - the works)
Performance disc brakes all around
Performance wheels and tires
Prolly wouldn’t mind some improved front buckets and an improved sound system -no thank you to a woofer)
Then it would be a kickass muscle car that any red-blooded American would be happy to drive.
Might be able to get all that done for about $20k extra, if you do the work yourself (with a little help)...
ETA: Manual shifter on the tranny.

I hated those 80's Camaros with a passion, but that looks pretty clean...

Oh the memories....
A woman I used to date bought one and I was driving up in the mountains.
Pull over....and we start fricking.
I was standing up through the t top while she was bent over.
Some Yahoo drove by as I was wailing away.

Would rather have the Fox body mustang

Hell yes I would. I actually had one damn near exactly like that right down to the color many years ago. now I'd prefer the body style just before that one just for the iconic white trash appeal.

Only when sunny. T-tops leaked especially on a slight incline during rain.
