Quit? Took an early retirement offer instead of relocating. I was asked to relocate to Dallas from Alabama since we were told that our department had a master plan to get several groups there. The alternative was to take an offer and bail or look for another job within the company to remain in Alabama.
I responded with taking the offer and bail. The department head asked me to consider 3 days a week in Atlanta and work from home for 2 days a week. Said no and bailed.
Left on good terms.

One summer in college, I worked for one of the major hotels in Orlando near Disney. I worked in the pool / health club area. The property also had a small manmade lake with paddle boats and sail boats guests could take on the water. The staff had a motor boat in case a guest was stuck in the water. Well on my last day, I was out on the water, came in to the dock a little too fast, threw it in to reverse too late, and WHAM! I slammed the hull into the dock.
As I was walking out with my head down in disgrace, the senior maintenance guy thanked me. He said fixing things us knucklehead summer workers would break (like patching up the boat's hull) help justify his job to management.

Probably for confusing them at Chuck E. Cheese by going by Chucky Chesse.

Sounds like a biz owner I knew that was famously a cheapskate, or at least reputed to be. In his lobby he always had these pamphlets from some laissez faire group with titles like “Freedom of Contract”. In that context, everyone knew that meant “If I could pay you less, I would”.

I once used the empty threat of quitting to get what amounted to a 28% raise. I had received a big promotion with a promise of a substantial pay raise 'as soon as finacially possible for the company'. I naively accepted and two years later was still stuck without my increase.
So when I got back from my vacation I called my boss and gave him my notice, telling him I accepted a job on the West Coast for an COL-adjusted 20% increase. I then faxed my written notice to him.
Long story short, they offered me a 28% raise if I stayed. And of course I had no other job offer, I just got pissed enough to take the chance.

I quit my job at a bank when offered a partnership position at another firm. My boss drank the koolaid wayyyy too much. Our industry doesn’t do 2 weeks notice, you resign on the spot and leave.
Told her I accepted a job becoming the owner of my own company and she seemed genuinely happy for me. Told her I had already cleaned out my office and my computers were in there unlocked for them to wipe. She looked at me confused saying “wait you are leaving today?” I had to explain to her why her company wouldn’t want me having access to files anymore. Got a laugh out of it later. We have a working relationship with them now. Never burn a bridge.

quit a summer job in college on the first day ( construction) because the Forman looked at me, picked up a hammer and a concrete covered board, then motioned to hit the concrete off the board with the hammer. He thought i was Mexican and didn't know English. Im not, just dark from fishing.

Seriously, how awesome would it be to have a boss who is unable to communicate with you?

So you screwed over your coworkers and the owners because they will have to deal with the consequences of regular paying customers now knowing what they really think. Also, losing customers because they now feel disrespected. Good Job. At least you got your feelings out in the open.

I love this. People get so bent out of shape about people quitting jobs this way, but its part of America. You can quit whenever you want, and that's beautiful. I
We are all gonna be in the ground eventually. Breaking your back delivering pizzas on superbowl sunday when you'd rather be watching the game with your buds is no way to live. Especially considering the pay.

Pull the stick out of your arse. With a response like that, your are probably the kind of unknowingly shitty customer that was addressed.
Coworkers (FOH and BOH) were quite amused when disrespecting customers and poor tipping customers received their review.
Management was partially amused because the bottom line hit from 10-12 customers for a independently owned restaurant that pulled in 25K a night is negligible.

I abruptly quit my first job out of college. It was a really toxic environment, and my boss was awful. He constantly threw his subordinates under the bus to upper management, while also taking all the credit when they did something good. So he tasked me with helping him with this big project he thought was going to get him a promotion if he knocked it out of the park. Problem was, he delegated 95% of the work on it to me. A lot of it was way over my head and I was overwhelmed with it for a few weeks, and he refused to provide guidance or assistance. He also never asked for progress reports from me on it, which he probably would have fired me had he done that because I was getting nowhere on it. Finally, the day before he had to present it, I hit my limit when he came in and bitched me out over something unrelated. I thought, frick this guy. Just before lunch, I went and deleted all the work I'd done on it from the server, dropped all the paperwork into the shredder, packed up my shite, left for lunch and never returned. I rationalized that I was likely going to be fired anyway because I had only completed maybe half of the work. I sat at my apartment all afternoon watching the Caller ID display his office number and not answering the phone. I finally answered it close to 5 and he was in tears screaming at me that I'd ruined his career. I felt bad for a second or two, but not for long. What kind of idiot asks a kid right out of college to do all the work on such a big project? I got a better job a couple of weeks later.

I worked at a tire/mechanic shop for a couple years in college.
One day I got called to come in after a gal and I had a morning off where we were got high and were banging after a night of drinking hard.
Anyway, I went in. Store was slammed for some reason on a random weekday. Picked up an older Toyota Tacoma that just needed an oil change and tire rotation.
Ended up draining the fluid, and filling it up with fresh oil. Checked the dipstick and it was way, way over. Like 5qts over.
I jacked it up again and dumped some oil out, didn't check the dipstick again and backed it out and turned the ticket in. Confident AF.
Owner came pick it up. He dropped the transmission 3 miles down the road.
I had drained the transmission fluid and never touched the engine oil. Still high and hungover as frick after a sex filled morning.
Next day I came in and quit on the spot.

It was 1982 and i was a office manager for Jacobs Engineering on a union job in Borden chemical in Geismar. The union contract called for a work week that went from Wednesday to the next Tuesday with payday the following Friday. There was a rule that the union employees could not get their checks early if they had not come to me and requested it. We did not receive the checks until Thursday. My computer at the time was a 10 key calculator, blank checks and a ball point pen.
One of our better pipe fitter welders came into the trailer on a Thursday morning and said he wanted his check. I told him they had not arrived yet plus he did not make the required request. He asked to see the superintendent so we walked to the other end of the trailer. After listening to the story, his request was refused. The welder said nothing, picked up the superintendent's hard hat, put it on the floor, unzipped and began to piss into the hard hat. Yes he got his way as I had to write 2 manual checks, one for the previous week and one that represented his pay up to the time it would take me to write his termination check and drive him to the gate. The whole job was laughing about that for weeks.

One of my coworkers did this and at the first sign things got slow, he was the first to be laid off. No one ever came out and said why, but we all knew why.
