I was 2 years old and my earliest memory is of riding the gondola.

Monorail, Space Shuttle, Piazza D'Italia, River Boat, the giant Ochsner heart, the Louisiana boat ride, Vatican treasures, etc.
The best exhibit for a tube sock wearing 9 year old boy was Peru, with its mummies and piranhas.
Great memories as a kid.

Was 13. Went with my school. They wouldn't let us ride the gondola. We caused havok in the haunted house by cutting up and messing with the people working it.
I remember this too.

They filmed an episode of days of our lives there while we were there. It was a Bo and hope when Peter Reckel was still playing Bo.

I remember my great aunt (rest her soul) insisting we eat some shite with chopsticks and she got diahherea a so bad we had to buy her new clothes to get back to the hotel.
Got married (to the Lottery Winner) on the day it closed.

Season pass. Saw the Oak Ridge Boys at the amphitheater. Popeyes rolled out a special spicy chicken sandwich at the WF that was amazing. All the International food and a Popeyes sandwich made the lasting impression on me. Good times.

9 at the time, family had the passes so we were there a few times a week. Kinda freaked out when the gondola stopped while we were over the river, but it was just to let some elderly people on/off

I remember the breakdancers and Michael Jackson playing on everyone's boombox

I got a picture of them flying the shuttle on the back of the 747 over LSU while taking It to the fair.
You guys saw the shuttle low fly by as it was being transported back to Florida after a landing in California. The shuttle was actually brought to the fair via barge through the IntraCoastal Waterway.
The swimming and diving show was a highlight. The Vatican exhibit brought in some awesome original Masters' art and a copy of the Shroud of Turin that was something to see.
A season pass cost $100 and was well worth it for locals. I enjoyed going if only to eat the Japanese and Chinese food. I have a photo of a beautiful 18 year old LSU coed I was dating threatening to deep throat a shish kabob "like her boyfriend". I was 31. Don't judge us. Good times.

When it opened in May, construction wasn't even finished, and the fair almost closed prematurely due to low attendance.
The fairs started happening in 2 year cycles and lost organization. Granted the internet takes a lot of the surprise out of what's it like somewhere else, the fairs could be awesome if done right.

I was 5, only memory I have was the giant Ferris wheel.

I remember it well. Although a financial failure, the fair gave NO the Warehouse District as it exists today.

I was 24 and came home on leave just to go.

Do you remember the Canadian IMAX thing?
It was my favorite thing there. The filming of the Canadian Canada Geese from the ultralight was pretty stunning. Overall the fair was decent.
I remember them building the Holiday Inn in Gonzales just off of Highway 30 in order to take advantage of World's Fair tourists. And the construction was so late that they completely missed the fair.

We were all over that fair. The cash only gondola was such an incredible boondoggle. The Perez family controlled it. The cash registers didn’t record the amount of cash they took in. They had “money runners” who walked uncounted cash from the registers to a room upstairs, where they counted and bundled cash.
Chalmations gonna Chalmette.
Anyone know why there hasn’t been a World’s Fair in the US since 1984?
