The Energy House played a commercial filmed at my parents house nonstop starring Dick Van Patten of Eight is Enough (instigated by LAS Windows, I believe)
I went to the fair until I had a head on collision in BR. Crutches and shattered ankle didn't mix well with the fair.

I went twice. I loved the big ferris wheel but wasn't even considering the cable ride across the river. It kept breaking. I wish they had thought of zip lines back then. I was 36.

That’s cool, did you get to meet DVP? I watched Eight is Enough a lot growing up.. I remember debates about which sister was hottest, i was always partial to Susan.
Also, speaking of LAS.. what was the old guy’s name who did their commercials for years and years? Maybe Oscar? I used to see him wandering the streets around the afterschool/ Kinder care i went to at 4 or 5 yrs old, this woulda been very early 80s.
ETA: Yep, Oscar.. he shows up at about the :19 second mark in this commercial.

8th grade field trip and two other times w/ family. I can still remember the gondola ride like it was yesterday.

I was there with my grandparents. Don’t remember much except for the gandola ride.

I was 8-9. I remember riding the gondola across the river, once in the daytime and once at night. Walton and Johnson were new and on B97 at the time.

Does anyone remember the pirate ship that flipped upside down?
Yess! It tricked riders by rolling around over our heads. Made everyone queasy.

Was a great time. Had a VIP pass that the company picked up half the tab, so we were there 3-4 times a week. Would take the kids, just youngsters, do a few kiddie things & ride the gondola across the river. Mom would meet us on the west side, take the little ones & we went back to party. The opposite on Sunday to pick up the kids.
To bad the gondola is not park of the sky line today.

They filmed an episode of days of our lives there while we were there. It was a Bo and hope when Peter Reckel was still playing Bo

Let us not forget the time that Susan Lucci filmed an episode of All My Children at the Superdome with the Saints

I was 15 and you remember more than I do. My mom made me go to it and I honestly don't remember anything about it, other than walking from the car and the ground was wet. I wish I did though.
