Yes! They had a few of them.

I vaguely remember the Egyptian exhibit had a mummy.

I was 10 too and all I cared about was the monorail, kiddie wash, and gondola. You're a faq.

Wait sorry no offense but aren’t you literally a faq?

The Bob Hope 1984 World’s Fair Birthday Special

“Ronald Reagan’s scheduled to visit, just as soon as they perfect crawfish-flavored jellybeans.”

“I dont know how to break this to you all, but the Japanese exhibit just bought the American exhibit.”

Lol

I was there, age 15 and part of a church group. We had a good time. Saw lots of good music, but not for any length of time because we were all underage.

It was the fair to end all fairs, literally. Never had another one in the U.S. When it opened in May, construction wasn't even finished, and the fair almost closed prematurely due to low attendance.

While it was a huge financial failure, its lasting legacy was the convention center and the modern day warehouse district, all vitally important now. That New Orleans hit the skids by the late 80s was due more to the crack cocaine epidemic and national economic factors unrelated to what was a relatively small, short fair by world's fair standards.

I went there a few times with family and school.

That kid wash... wtf were we so excited about!?? It’s just soap suds.

I don’t remember anything about the World’s Fair even though I was 16 years old living in Baton Rouge. I did have a Louisiana license plate on my car that had a 1984 Worlds Fair logo.

the gondola

Oh God, that reminds me of that cranking sound/shake as you ascended over the river. My mom was not overly fond of heights, so it added some entertainment.

I was there with the family. Rode the gondola lift across the river. That was cool.

A swing by the German beer garden made the gondola ride much less scary. Even more excellent if you could time the gondola ride with the 10 p.m. nightly fireworks.

Sounds like my summer when I was 19. Had a buddy that used to pass out on the kangaroo at Sheila's almost every week after the Sheiks played there.

I was 16 and would go with my older brother at night to the Fulton St music clubs to watch the break-dancing.

Good times.
