My brother in law worked on the lighting for the shows on a cruise ship. I think it was about a month from Miami to Istanbul. He said he'd never set foot on a cruise ship again.

I’ve heard plenty of stories from people out of college who say it’s the best time they’ve ever had. Just drinking and banging employees and passengers all day

Working on the Caribbean routes is probably worse due to the type of passenger it attracts. The cheaper and more accessible the cruise is, the worse and more entitled acting the passengers are.
Cruises seem awful to me; I have never been on one, nor do I desire to go on one. I know they can be enjoyable, but not for me. So working everyday on a cruise ship, dealing with crappy people is a hard "NO" for me. You could not pay me $250K/Year.

Actually, most of them are happy to be there. Yes, it's a lot of work, but they make more money there than they do in their home countries. Talked to many of them, and while the work is a lot, they are all happy to be doing it for their families.
They have no expenses on the ship, food, room and board, etc are all free, they may or may not have to pay for a wifi plan, but their overall cost of living is low.
I wouldn't want to do it, but I understand why many do. Have been on cruises and met some of the same staff members a decade apart.

One of the perks of the job is that if you have a psychotic break and kill one of your co-workers, it is really easy to dispose of the body and nobody will care anyway. So it's probably a great gig if you are prone to serial killer-ism.

I agree with you now for the most part. However, when we were a young “poor” married couple, it was the closest thing you could get to a fancy vacation. This would've been around 2010. 5 all inclusive days in the Caribbean for $700 or less

Even being a customer on a cruise ship seems miserable and I never understand why people pay thousands of dollars for it.

I've never understood what country would have jurisdiction over the crime if you commit a crime on a cruise ship. I've always wondered if people are able to get away with crimes on cruise ships for that reason.
Not that I'd want to go on a cruise anyway, but that's another reason why not to go on a cruise.

If in the national waters of a country, probably that country.
Otherwise, probably the country the ship is flagged for which is generally Panama for the cruise ships.

Every cruise I have been on, these are the hardest working, friendliest bunch on the whole ship.
