Met my wife in our coed rec league. She was the girl infielder. She was the best player on that team.

What are their jobs? I had to stop joining rec leagues like this because of my job. There were just too many times when I had to cancel last minute.

After 2 misses, I would boot their arse from the team.

Well your mistake is only having 3 females when 2 are needed each game. Recruit 6-7 and your problem should be solved.
Also if they wanted to be there, they would. Maybe your team sucks.

well, they have girls on the team...

if it was a priority they would be there, you seem to think planning is the problem when it seems like the problem is motivation
my guess is they signed up just to be a part of something and as a social backup plan. when ever something better or more important to them comes along for 7pm on a wednesday, co-ed softball is second place
I played co-ed softball for five years. we had the same problem with women. the first season we had one ultra-competitive female player and three semi-committed women and we struggled. the next season we let the competitive woman recruit all of the other women and we never had a problem after that. She knew who really wanted to play and who didnt.

Unfortunately, this is the trick. Been down this road so many times. Barely get enough to get by during the season and then playoff time rolls around and everyone shows up, all 14 on the roster, and everyone wants equal playing time. Being the "coach/manager" is a lose-lose situation here.

That's bullshite. It's not so much the fact that these women suck at sticking to plans but it's that they are inconveniencing the whole team. Y'all need to recruit some athletic lesbians.
Or hell, some of y'all start identifying as female - problem solved!

The league rules require at least 2 females have to be present and playing, one in the infield and one in the outfield. We have 3 girls on our team. 2 of them have not made it to a single game so far, and we've played 6. In our team groupme, it's the same ritual every Wednesday - an hour before first pitch, one of them will message "hey guys, so sorry, I'm not gonna make it todayyy!" and the other will follow suit with "me neither guys so sorry!" Keep in mind that the fee for the league was $100. We've had to forfeit 3 of the 6 games because we couldn't recruit any subs in time. We're one forfeit away from being disqualified for the playoffs.
I get it's mainly a casual outing and means of light exercise, but I still don't understand why women can't plan for a simple hour of their day on a Wednesday afternoon at 7:00, especially given the commitment and entry fee.
Dear Facebook...
Be a man.
Call them out.
Do it in public.
Publish it all here.
Seriously, call them out in front of everyone. They are literally wasting your time and your money. That deserves to be called out.

Played coed for a few years .
A lot of different rules than those you described
Five girls … batting order was alternating between men and women. If you were short a girl , you could play but her spot in the order was an automatic out
Guys batted off handed ( right hand batters had to bat left handed or vice versa . ) And if you proved you could hit that way they could turn you around . We were pretty good ( our guys all played in men’s leagues too and we’re all decent, but the girls we had were really good) ,including the mom of future LSU softball player Jacee Blades …

I stopped playing a few years ago, but we always had the same situation. And the ones that did show up would not be at the park until right at game time so we would have to wait for them to make it to the field. It was a beer league, so we had to field 4 females but had 7 on the roster and the league allowed females to play on multiple teams.

I've had the same issue on the coed teams I've been on. It's also a problem that the worst players are usually the ones that ALWAYS show up on gameday.

This is your problem, not the coed aspect. I played a few years in a CPA league. One night a week, double-headers with something like a 75 minute time limit for each game. Slow-pitch 10 vs 10, and you could play with 9 if you had to, but if only 8 showed up, it was a forfeit. Usually what happened in that case was someone from the other team would play for yours and the game didn't count. No one cared, there were full coolers in each dugout. It was an odd combo of young guys right out of college mixed with a few middle management types, and an occasional partner showing up. The rules were pretty lax when it came to who was on your roster. If some lady worked at your firm and her husband wanted to play, fair game. If one of the older partners had kids old enough and wanted to play, they played.

LOL
Have a similar issue in my coed soccer league. Our women do tend to show up, however they are basically traffic cones on the pitch. Meanwhile, all the other teams somehow have former D1 college players on their teams. It’s infuriating
