I have a friend who has had two major chute failures in her first 60 jumps. An unheard of failure rate. I convinced her to quit jumping.
She will have a hard time jumping with any outfit that knows of her two failures. These people are superstitious

No way I would jump after the 1st one failed.

I wonder what kind of fuel mileage she was getting
Probably was gaining a crap ton from the time she was lying on the ground.

This is a really bad pun attempt
The back seat was full so she had to ride to the hospital in the trunk. No dogs are known to have barked at her on the way.

I’m about 99.9% sure JBGleasin was making up BS.

Incredible. She should play the lotto too with that luck.

It’s not good luck to have both chutes fail.

Her parachute and reserve both failed to open. This means she was either unconscious, incredibly unlucky, or just hard headed... Both of those parachutes that must be pulled to deploy with the only exception being if she had an AAD on her reserve.
The main chute probably deployed from the pack, but the canopy failed to open, and possibly due to lack of experience she pulled the reserve without cutting away the main. Leaving her with two tangled, unopened canopies trailing, but providing enough drag to slow her to a more survivable velocity.

The troubling thing is the 5000ft jump, if accurate. I'm guessing from the tenor of the short article she still had beginner status which would dictate she deploy at 4000-4500ft AGL, that means shite happens fast in a 5000ft AGL jump.
I am betting she was in a messy position (since she had to pull so quickly out of the plane) when she tried to deploy the main and spent too long trying to get air in the drag chute by stabilizing her position then wigged out as she started to see blades of grass and pulled the reserve before the main came out and that cause the main to deploy and she made the rest of the ride with a twisted mess following her down. Hell, she probably spent precious seconds worried about whether to drop her handle or not.

This is exactly why I wouldn't skydive/parachute. That's a huge fear of mine and I'm not willing to take that chance.

This is a good mentality to have going into a jump

Actually no. I have never understood the mentality of someone that comes on here and just makes shite up. I know there are a few posters notorious for that. My friend lives in Fayetteville NC and got into skydiving because she was dating a Army SF guy that was a member of the Army skydiving team (can’t recall the name of the team. Navy equivalent is LeapFrogs because I knew one of those dudes). Anyway, she had two main chute failures in 60 jumps and had to go to reserve both times. Her boyfriend and I both talked her out of jumping after that. One failure was a “streamer” - tangled main. I can’t remember the details of the second but I know it was worse and actually scared her quite a bit.

I meant that if I were falling without a fully functioning parachute. Obviously if I had a working parachute and could fall to the ground unharmed I'd do so.
Seriously, there's a very good chance that this woman will spend decades wishing she had actually died. I'm half wondering if she's actually paralyzed from the fall, but they deliberately don't mention it in the article because they want to create the impression she's unbelievably lucky.

A 5000ft dive sounds both lame and dangerous. That's not high at all. "
I want to hear about your sky diving adventures-how high have you jumped from?
