I'm looking to get out sooner rather than later even if we avoid a flood this time.

If you decide to leave, stay the frick out of Houston.

Ya we gone. Got lucky in 16. Won't be near as well off if we flood this time.

I cannot count the number of people who have said that if it happens again, they will leave. I flooded in 2016 and said that very thing. It appears that, if the river stages are correct, I will be flooding again. We will not stay here any longer than we have to after this one.

Stadium location isn't the problem. It's the loss of population and lack of local corporate sponsors. If they don't come back those two sports franchises won't hang around.

We got 5' last time. We have all of our receipts and records already loaded in the truck. We took pics and videos of everything we own. We put as much as we could in the attic and will take as much as we can with us in our trucks. Yes, we will rebuild a second time. This time I am adding network cable to the whole damn house! A port at every electrical outlet and wired for speakers throughout. We will also be putting in rockwool insulation this time.

Nope, if I flood this time then I'm putting sandbags next to my doorsteps next time.

When I was growing up, our house in Chalmette flooded 3 times in 4 years (from ‘78-‘81). Least was around a foot, worst was almost 3 feet. We rebuilt each time, sold a few years later, and it didn’t flood again for around 20 years.

If they city or state or parish won’t do anything to prevent future floods at all why stay?
