A chunk of their survival are the corporate expo/ conference events. A lot depends on how well Vegas can keep these events in town or lose them to other cities or either the corporations eliminate them altogether
As someone who works full time in this industry, it's actually been extremely busy since after the Covid year nearly wiped it out. On a random Monday or Tuesday afternoon things are definitely not as happening as they have been in the past, but for convention times it's still slammed

I think he is referring to tourism and not people living there. His title is a little off, but the post was talking about tourists going there.

Hahahaha. I mean you’re right but if that was the case why go to Vegas at all?
Posted on 4/26/26 at 6:58 am to JayVegas702
My wife’s company (top 10 big pharma) has huge meetings there twice a year. Talking millions and millions spent. My guess is that Vegas is still the number one destination for major meetings and conventions.

They are seeing major drop offs in visitors and revenue, due to the raising cost of visiting Vegas

They are already offering things like “All-Inclusive Packages”, where you get a room, meals, and a show at a nice discounted rate.
You make it sound like the correction is already taking place.

Uh, negative. You don’t need to post outright lies dude.
My source is the Las Vegas Valley Water District, the entity that supplies the water. Who is yours?
LINK
The Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) is a not-for-profit government agency that provides water to over 1.5 million people in Southern Nevada. Established in 1954, it serves as the retail water provider for the City of Las Vegas, unincorporated Clark County (including the Las Vegas Strip), and several rural communities like Blue Diamond, Kyle Canyon, and Laughlin.
Service Scope: While it delivers water to homes and businesses, it also acts as the managing agency for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), providing the day-to-day staff and operational support for that regional body.

Dude. Your wife and friend pay dearly for ALL of that “comped” (lol) stuff.
You people amaze me thinking you’re getting free stuff.

a NOLA native, LV has always seemed to me to be the antithesis of New Orleans

Went once. Highlight of the trip was the Grand Canyon.

Ive always questioned people’s IQ when say that that tired old shite .. because it’s literally the tourists who go to NOLA, drink waaayy more crappy liquor than they would at home (Hurricanes, Hand Grenades, et al).. then proceed to puke their guts out and piss on the sidewalk…. THEN they complain about the smell.. it’s a complete, utter lack of self-awareness .

Hell. I was in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl this year and the Marriott slipped a “Resort Fee” in my bill. Didn’t tell me until check out either. NOLA ain’t Vegas.
Its not like resort fees are just a Vegas thing. Been seeing them for 20 years

Only thing keeping it going is conferences

No, your town smells like arse. You can smell it before you can see it. Clean it up.

How do you maximize the points to get the rewards you mentioned?

Are you going to just ignore what Vegas returns to the lake via its recycling and rainwater retention program? Vegas is allocated only about 4% of the lower Colorado flow. You can google all this you know.

Vegas was built to separate fools from their money. There is an endless supply of fools so they’ll always be OK!

My mom used to get 3 nights comped at the Wynn and now gets 4 nights comped at any MGM resort and she cycles a few thousand playing $1.25 a hand video poker with a max budget of $1000 for the trip. The comps are based on how much money you cycle through, so if you find a game that has a good return (98% or so), you can get massive comps for relatively cheap.
Posted on 4/26/26 at 7:45 pm to TheWalrus
Clearly you are meaning 98% of the 1.25 a spin goes towards the comp and that is not the winning

even though LV & NOLA are ostensibly the party capitals of America, to me they are polar opposites .
There are Vegas/Miami people, and Nola people. The two are very, very different.
