We went as a family for a gymnastics competition last year and made a family vacation out of it. Ate at nice restaurants, went to shows, the sphere. Everyone had a blast and the pools were not even open.
It was crazy expensive. A few grand all in for 6 ppl. By far the food was the most expensive for the entire trip.

People smoking skunk weed every 50 feet didn’t help their image.

I went around Christmas and learned there are a ton of Asians that have loads of money, or just love to gamble, or both

Yep.
I walked the strip and saw and smelled that on the street despite a sign saying no public consumption of Mary Jane.
Still my favorite sign from last week. I even posted it here:

In the old days, they used to appeal the masses with cheap buffets, cheap flights and cheap rooms. They used it as a lure to funnel people to the slots and table games where they fleeced them dry. At some point they decided they didn't want those people, only the rich. Why try to fleece $500 bucks out of some poor schmuck when they can get one guy to lose $500K at the table and not flinch about it? They flipped it. Now they fleece the sight seers and tourists with fees and $10 bottles of water. They still rob them on the casino floor, but now they also rob them the second they get out at the airport.
The billionaire fat cats don't have to rub elbows with some schlub millionaires anymore either.

I’d go for 3 or 4 days max. I’ve looked at the all inclusive deals and some are better than others. I’d like to go stay at the Fontainebleau.

We do our sales conference every year in May
This year we’ve moved to Nashville and then all of a sudden they announced it’s at the MGM again in Vegas
I asked our VP about it and he said that the MGM called right before we signed the contract with the Gaylord Nashville and offered 50% off last years rate and we couldn’t say no.
They were begging for our business. It’s about 1k rooms plus conference space

Vegas core customers are now an older crowd and international tourists. The international part is basically dead now thanks to world events. The older crowd is being priced out slowly and the young generation doesn't drink and smoke.
There will be some radical changes in the future

No it wont but many of the Carnival cruise crowd casinos will be knocked down. The days of free beers and 9.99 steak and eggs for the poors is gone
Vegas is an F1 crowd now

Learn to gamble
Reminds me of the LSU-USC weekend where everyone on here was being comped at the Wynn for four nights. These casinos aren’t looking to comp stays for people spending a few grand.

Pro tip bring your own cash from home. Those ATM’s are greedy. 12 dollar service fees and more if your bank charges an out of network fee.
Can the pros tell me why I would need cash at all?
I’ve been twice in the past 3 years and never came upon a cash-only place or one that charged an extra fee for using a card.

It catered to the retirees
Cheap buffets
Cheap hotels

It's overpriced. Maybe when the economy gets better or there's more affordable options.

The only reason to go is that it is still the best spot for live poker in the world, but even that isn’t what it used to be back in the day.

I go to Tunica like a real degenerate. They basically pay you to go there.

Hell. I was in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl this year and the Marriott slipped a “Resort Fee” in my bill. Didn’t tell me until check out either. NOLA ain’t Vegas.
Almost every hotel in New Orleans charges a resort fee now. This has been going on for years.

hey're due a comeuppance. Charging bullshite resort fees plus the prices of food and drinks is finally catching up. These things run in cycles and they had a seriously long run of gouging people. I'll definitely go back once their begging is discounted enough
Yeah, went for the LSU game in 2024 and they butt-raped folks in the Casino we were in on food and drink. I had friends who said you could find better prices other places but not always convenient to find those places and/or get the group to all agree to go.
Not being a gambler I found it very frustrating having to pay the high prices. Not much that would motivate me to go back, outside some pretty impressive poolside talent, but $12-15 a beer to look at it.
