My wife and I flew into Vegas a couple weeks ago and stayed a night on our way to Zion National Park and it was crazy busy. Doesn’t look like it’s dropped off at all to me.

Because it hasn’t. Not to mention look at all the professional sports franchises that have and are relocating to Vegas.

You’re either a Vegas person or not.
I’m not.
The ten or so times I’ve been was to attend a conference or a convention there. Mrs Füt (no pics) never accompanied me as she, like me, has no desire to voluntarily go there.
The only(-iest) upside for me is that there are some cool things to see and to visit within a 300 mile radius of Las Vegas.
So every time I’ve been, I’ve taken a day and a rental car and headed out of town.
Actually drove RT from LV to LA one time to surprise a cousin there (San Clemente) for lunch and to just see what the drive was like as it’s been in plenty of movies and books.

Vegas is a good lesson in bad government.
Attendance started sliding for various reasons, and the response was to charge more to the people still coming to bridge the gap, which has now caused even more people to stop going, and the cycle repeats.
You see the same thing when cities and states raise taxes and revenues actually decrease in the long run.

Here we go again... a thread where a bunch of people who never left the Strip complain about Vegas.
There will be changes, but off strip is doing just fine. Go to Durango or Red Rock casinos, or GVR, up to Mt Charleston, Red Rock, Lake Mead, the river below the dam, Summerlin, downtown, Valley of Fire...
The answer is no and it is a ridiculous question.

A ghost town? Not a chance, Vegas will adapt and figure ways to make $.
We make a trip to LV once every few years and only go if we're using airline miles and hotel points, plus neither of us gamble. There are so many better places to travel and take a vacation than LV.

No. It won't be dead in 25 years. Prices are sky high there....if things were as bad as some YouTube videos try to make you believe then Vegas would have to drop prices to keep from going out of business.
I haven't been to Vegas in over 20 years and with the sky high prices I will probably never return. But tons of people are going and spending big.

I went annually for work and a few personal trips, but with the fees and costs for tickets and food now, no thanks.

Haven't been to LV in almost 30 years. Would love to go back one more time but the things being talked about in this thread, gouging on food & drinks and tacking on fees to everything, would annoy me to the point I could not enjoy myself.

I have people telling me two beers and some chicken wings will run you over $50 on the strip.
Well, you're talking to some dumb asses since you can walk into the CVS on the strip and buy beers for cheap.

If you go to Vegas with Seven Stars people like my wife and her cousin, then all meals and hotels and transportation to and from the airport is comped.
Sometimes we give free drinks to random people just before midnight because their free drink allotment resets at midnight.
I live eating at Amalfi and Nobu in Caesars, but I'd never go if it wasn't comped.
ETA--my wife and her cousin are doing a 24 hour flight/trip to Vegas next weekend because they both get a $4k voucher to use on a Louis Vitton purse there. They're both getting $600 flight credits, free rooms and about $500 in free play. They're going to eat a comped meal and drinks at Amalfi, pick out a purse and not have to spend a dime.
If you know how their tier points work and work the system, it can be worthwhile.

Absolutely not….
Las Vegas is the epitome of overindulgence….and Americans love overindulgence!
That is like saying that New Orleans will become a ghost town because you can buy whiskey to drink at home.
If there is any drop in tourism to Vegas it is because the economy is bad and people are struggling.

Vegas will always survive…..and thrive

I think the explanation is closer to being the class of people Vegas doesn’t want to visit is the most vocal and complaining they can no longer afford to visit.
The system will work itself out.

Data centers will be up and down the strip, oh wait, 25 years down the road will be nothing but "Robots only Gambling"

It’ll never be a ghost town. Too much of a reputation as a destination entertainment city. Women aren’t going to get influencer status on their social media by posting pics of themselves at Boomtown and Coushatta.
They’ll eventually have a reckoning when it comes to prices on everything when the crowds shrink and there’s enough empty rooms.

I went a few years ago and my jaw dropped at the prices of EVERYTHING out there now. Just a room on a Tuesday night with nothing special going on was over $330 after all the stupid fees and taxes. I haven't gone back even though ive driven through there several times. Used to be a fun place for truck drivers to stay and get out of the truck but its all gone now. The Wild West truck stop a block off the strip is gone, all of the cab services out there are insanely expensive to get to/from the remaining truck stops.
Interstate 80s casinos are still fun, especially in West Wendover.

Not at all. Its proximity to scenery and areas with outdoors activities make it a superb retirement spot for people from California who want to stay close to family while not having to pay the exorbitant COL expenses. It’s a real estate gold mine like Arizona.

Comparing Las Vegas and New Orleans as if they’re even remotely similar cities is absolutely hilarious.
Las Vegas is ranked like 6th or 7th in the country for the most visited city with high airport traffic. New Orleans isn’t even in the top 30 when it comes to airport traffic.

When I was there 2 weeks ago for the Eagles concert at the Sphere, one of my Uber drivers told me that last year he only made 50% of what he made in 2024. This year he says looks to be 50% of last year.
