I’m a fairly conservative republican and lived in Southern California for 3 years.

It was incredible. Sure most people there were to the left of my own views but not one time did it prevent making friends or having a great time.

I won’t deny the problems facing California. But it is a much better place to live than anywhere in Louisiana.

I am not negative in the least bit about Louisiana. I actually love my home state. Of course I have not lived there since 1988 but that is beside the point

It’s like the big brother/little brother situation. Big brother may beat up little brother, but big brother will also rain down the fury on any other person who beats up little brother.

In other words, Louisiana may be a a shithole, but goddamn it it’s my shithole and I love it.

Cool. I moved as soon as I graduated college (Phoenix and Houston). Really didn't want to go to college in LA but my parents weren't too fond of out of state tuition.

Thanks for the advice.

So people cant speak up when they see the leaders screwing up so bad? Maybe these folks you're talking about are sick of having to settle for less while a select few reap the benefits and turn the rest of the state into, as you put it,, "a shithole".

Yeah, the state is a shithole in many ways. Yeah, the state government has never done much to inspire confidence in its people. Yeah, the lack of jobs and a parasitic underclass make many people want to move away.

But this shite happens in a lot of places. Have you ever been to Detroit? Baltimore? San Francisco? People love complaining about taxes, but go spend a year in Cali and let me know how it goes. Life may not be perfect here, but it's not horrible. Not by a long shot.
I think it's the weather. Does a lot of shite suck in California? Sure but you can walk outside and the weather is almost always nice. Here, we have a shitty state, and then you walk outside and the weather makes it worse. It doesn't let you forget about all of the shitty things surrounding you, it adds to it.

the recent proliferation of anti-LA threads certainly are correlated to the incredibly shitty weather we're all experiencing

i REALLY started to notice it when i went to Denver/Breck 2 weekends ago

I checked the weather in San Francisco before posting. It’s 66 degrees right now, the rest of the week is sunny with highs in the mid 70’s and lows in the upper 50’s.

Then I checked here, it’s 87 degrees and has rained twice today, highs in the mid 80’s, lows in the mid 70’s, thunderstorms every day for the rest of the week.

Seriously, if you don't like it, feel free to move to Texas some other shithole country.

This doesn’t feel like a coherent sentence, but did it (I think) and am am very happy with the move.

The best part about this is half these baws moving to Texas will end up sending their kids to LSU

My wife and I make good money, live in a nice house, and have kids in good public schools. Our family is here. Everything we need and want is here.

If we lived elsewhere we would make more money and maybe have a more expensive house. That's not what drives me and it's not worth having my kids not know their extended family.

I'm especially troubled by the venom that gets spewed about LSU (the university). Yeah, it could be better, but the LSU of today is a shite ton better than the one I attended in the 80s. It's gonna be hard to break through the perception of being terrible when that's all you hear and read online.

One of the main reasons Louisiana eroded is about to take hold at LSU

The “holistic admissions” process is about to bury LSU.
