I understand the simplicity and price point, but with all the different handguns out there that are similar to that of the Glock 17/19 these days, why does it still rule the marketplace?

Because they are good guns that look cool without breaking the bank. Personally I didn't like them.

I understand wanting a Glock because it doesn't break the bank and is extremely reliable, but personally I find them pretty ugly.

Read the Glock book and take a Marketing or Business class for your answer. First to market, superior design, competitive price point, brand recognition, etc.

Cliches can be bad except when it's a cliche for being an excellent and reliable product.

Glock revolutionized the handgun market IMO.

Tits and guns and a woman who has complete command of both. What’s not to like?

its the "yeti" of the gun world. undeserved popularity due to excellent marketing and lobbying groups making sure ll the big players in law enforcement have them.

Great marketing. It’s a great quality handgun, but it’s marketing is what made it explode. It also helps that most police officers carry glocks. You see one almost everyday.
