Interadasting.

My college GF in the 80's, from Haughton (outside Bossier City), grew up with her mother's pet monkey. It was a chatterbox and mess making thing. I tried to avoid it when visiting. As it got older it got meaner, and they can live a long time. Forget the particular kind but it was pretty small, the kinda old fashioned barrel full of monkey's looking thing.

1980's was when the nation had a monkey pox outbreak too.

Didn’t her husband own some hotels? If that’s the same person I’m thinking of she spent tons of money on stupid animal parties where other people would bring their monkeys over to play. She was friggin weird

If someone imports a male and female and sets them loose in the garden district we could conceivably be overrun

Yeah that’s her. I think they ended up divorcing and she kept the house and animals grandparents were friends with the husband. Went to a few parties there as a kid, got to ride the tortoise and play with the monkey.

Wasn't the only case of that in Florida?

It’s happened in more places than you think. The town of Walker adopted an ordinance about 15 years ago banning primates because one got loose and went berserk several times, the last straw was when it attacked a little boy and bit him all over. It was raised from a baby and was okay UNLESS someone laughed at it. It apparent took that as a sign of aggression and would go insane beating on the cage, screaming and reaching through the cage trying to get whoever was laughing. The owner had been attacked by it several times and always made excuses for it....she was crazier than the monkey TBH

Obviously it’s a bad foreboding sign that she feels the need to get a pet monkey in order to fill a void in her life. She wouldn’t have the urge for a new companionship if you were giving her the emotional support she needs.

You're probably correct. As long as they don't fornicate I am cool with it.

It seems silly to outlaw monkeys.

it's beyond silly that so many of you don't have enough common sense to know why a monkey is a bad idea. read the snake poem and substitute monkey and the characteristics of a monkey for that of a snake and maybe you'll get it. A monkey is not a pet nor a toy.
