You have utterly failed to convince me why I should agree with you on that assertion.

If you are unwilling to drive 1 hour to college, it should not be the states responsibility to waste money building one so small town people can live at home during college

It’s ridiculous

They are already in existence, it is not as if the state is suddenly deciding to build colleges and universities that are not yet extant. They are already in place and have students in attendance and are drawing new students each year.

I agree. LSU-A and SUNO can go, but Northwestern St is doing well.

More like fixed costs.

In your scenario, would the state have to incur additional costs to expand LSU and whatever other universities you deem deserving to keep open? Would they have to hire more faculty or would the class sizes just increase even more? What about infrastructure in the surrounding community?

What costs would the states till incur for the upkeep of the closed colleges? Would they get any return at all on the buildings that already exist and in most cases have probably already been paid for?

How many fewer college educated citizens are worth the cost savings (whatever those may or may not be) in this consolidation scenario? How much in reduced taxes from citizens who don't have the earning power of a college education?

Just seems like you are throwing out a conclusion based on your personal preferences without any numbers or anything to back it up.

I can see closing colleges that are not performing, are ones that are in the same city as others and teaching the same things for the same or similar costs. But beyond that, someone would have to show me a full analysis of the pros and cons and all possible consequences, including unintended consequences.

the budget for suno last time i looked was 15 mil.... does the state get 15 mil in benefit...

Nope... there is a study that UNO and delgado could gobble up every suno student at negligible increased costs....

They are proud of that .06% graduation rate!

That's not really accurate. Part-time, non-traditional, and students that transfer out are not counted in graduation rates. Those are a big portion of community college students.
