There are plenty of unfunny Brit shows, we tend to get the good stuff over here.
Canadians have produced the best comedy and comedians per capita, IMO.

Norman Wisdom seemed to be the big British comedy star of the 1950s, and I've seen most of his movies, which are silly but tolerable, with mainstream music and slapstick. They're not bad, but don't really hold a candle to some of the output by the classic American comedians.
Things get far more obtuse twenty years earlier, with British music-hall types like George Formby, Stanley Lupino, Jack Hulbert, and such, with their movies. Their films can be very weird and very silly, but in ways that undoubtedly confused American audiences both back then and would do even more so nowadays. I do sorta like Hulbert, though.
None of that stuff I'd remotely regard as 'dry' humor. Anything but. I guess the 'dry' proclivity must have been a later development...? That original strain is more in line with Benny Hill.

There are definitely some British comedy shows that is far less nuanced
Benny Hill comes to mind and Brits question why the frick Americans like him so much.

I was thinking more Taskmasters and Graham Norton. I feel both are a British take on American comedy but with some of the styling that does bridge the gap between the two. Not fully American, or classic British, but a mesh of the two.

Vast majority of Americans realize SNL is woke shite. Terrible example

I can't stand anything the Brits make. I try to like it but end up just turning it off. I don't watch SNL. But if you're referring to the latest Liberal meltdown about women dressing like whores in gyms, that's just a fact. Most of them dress like street walkers everywhere they go. The only reason it's funny is because everyone knew there would be a complete unhinged meltdown and exhibition from these whores.
The EU puts people in prison now for such jokes which I guess you might be fine with.

Well, Monty Python is still the best thing that’s ever been on English language television.

British comedian, Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean is about the least funniest comedian I have ever seen. British people are weird and trashy as frick.
