So Republicans are the only party in Washington D.C. that cater to lobbyists? First time I ever heard that!

Because health insurance currently covers cancer treatment, which is a never-ending losing battle.

Should everyone diagnosed with cancer just be put in front of a firing squad to save the community money and resources and put the patient out of their misery?

Yes, I agree there were 8 people in the room for surgery. Do they need that many? Hell, I'm alive, so yes maybe.

That 200K was the real cost after adjustments. Add in another 6k before surgery was done.

The biggest cost was the generator. That was close to 175K. Now I bit of history. I was told the first was to last up to 10 years. Made a little over 7 years. More problems. I was on a recall list due to battery failure which had me going to the doctors every month the pass 6 years.

Now, the new one is forecasted to last 6 years. WTF? Battery power has gotten 10X better the last 7 years.

Wrong/right.

Lost many in my family to the big C.

I have a niece that is stage 4, a nurse. She has beat it the last 7 years. A Mom of 4, only 36 now.

Insurance companies are responsible to their shareholders. They serve only to make a profit. Stock market crash in 2008 did far more damage to health premiums than Obama care.

How much did they pay the actual provider? Health care list price is a fiction completely detached from actual reimbursement rates.

2018 Medicare Phycisian reimbursement rates:

$423 for CRT Generator Change.

Believe me, it ain't the docs screwing everyone over. Note that this does not include the facility fee, price of the product, anesthesia, etc. Just what the surgeon can charge.

$175k for just the generator seems impossible to me. I understand that you may have the paperwork saying it cost that much, but it seems absurd.

Yes. That is what has my arse in a uproar. How can they justified that cost? My little sister used to build them in New Orleans.

90k for an appendectomy. I’ll owe about 800. Ridiculous.

I had one that cost close to a million or slightly over. Granted I nearly died and spent almost 90 days in the hospital.

Why do insurance company execs make tens of millions of dollars in salaries and comps?
Why aren’t insurance companies non profit?
Why can’t the government negotiate drug costs with pharmaceutical companies for Medicare recipients?
Why do we allow congress to receive donations from insurance and pharmaceutical companies?

Careful they will call you a socialist.

You do realize that before Obamacare many health insurance plans had a 1 million dollar cap. You could have been on the hook for $291,897.38.

The Problem isn't the insurance companies or Obama Care its the Doctors,Hospitals, clinics and imaging companies charging 50% more for services billed through the insurance company over what it cost out of pocket.

Which was built upon forcing people to go buy a product from a private company or face a penalty. Likely the most anti-American legislation enacted in the last 50 years.

I mean considering everything that a CRT-D does paying the price of a starter home is appropriate. A little perspective of the human physiology and life and death consequences it makes sense
