If you are honest with yourself, think about your health situations 60 years ago. You are likely already dead at tens-to-hundreds of thousands of dollars of less impact to the system

This is 100% correct.

Medicare paid 99%. I have that with along plane F. The two cost me more then $750 a month. Add another $800 a month for my wife with a $6200 deductible.

I am bitching due to the fact that there are many older folks that work and the way insurance has went down hill, something like this will wipe out their retirement.

8 years ago, I had outstanding insurance and still had to pay 22K out my pocket. There is no reason a pacemaker should cost this much these days.

Having it changed was a in/out surgery in 5 hours.

Why do insurance company execs make tens of millions of dollars in salaries and comps?
Why aren’t insurance companies non profit?
Why can’t the government negotiate drug costs with pharmaceutical companies for Medicare recipients?
Why do we allow congress to receive donations from insurance and pharmaceutical companies?

Good lord, that is a chunk of cash!

To answer your question, fish, my personal opinion is that a big contributor to health care being out of control is an artificial shortage of medical personnel. We always hear about a shortage of doctors causing high prices, yet medical schools turn away one hell of a lot of qualified folks every single year.

If there is a lack of space in medical schools, it would seem to me that the law of supply and demand would dictate more schools would open.
