This is a great sermon by Father Mark Bernhard, even if you aren’t religious:

I suspect this message will be poorly received. People are upset by a plane flying a banner that simply says "House the Homeless." Empathy has been eroded.

Everybody is grumpy because they're struggling to survive in an economy that was fricked up by the boomers

Yes. When you aren't in the same room as someone else, it's much easier to be a dick while hiding behind your screen (even if not anonymously). There's no human connection behind screens.

Because people that used to be killed, shunned, or shamed into acting right are now free to roam around without a care in the world.

Recently, inflation has caused a lot of angst with the younger than 40 cohort
Many feel like they don't have the same path that the 50+ cohort had in terms of housing affordability -- this cannot even be argued the data is comically supportive
Much of this has been driven by boomer politicians
And social media has completely shifted to a net negative on society

This. Social media has spawned a generation of keyboard warriors. They will post shite they wouldn't dare say to anyone's face without taking an arse whipping.

Social media giving everyone a voice combined with people working from home and forgetting how to deal with the general public and the inconvenience that sometimes brings.

As an atheist, I would love to hear whoever downvoted this post explain their objection to it.

While I agree that the boomer generation definitely mortgaged futures that weren't their own, I think there is a lot more to our struggles than boomers. For one, it takes a lot more than boomers to keep electing the oldest of the boomers.

because two political parties have drifted so far apart from what they used to be and it has impacted everyone's daily life
and they are no closer to fixing the issues that impact everyone because they would rather to continue the discourse they have created across the country which impacts education, crime, immigration. etc.

The left wing started us down that path, conservatives are just finally following suit, justifiably

Because the political parties are effectively competing corporations as a result of Citizens United.

That would be a good thing. The performative notion that one can actually stand in the shoes of another is the root of many societal ills.
Sympathy? Yes of course.
