And I've never been to a dry wedding in North LA and I'm fairly confident that South LA has some dry weddings. If that's you're reasoning on how the whole of North LA has a different view of alcohol then it's just ridiculous and wrong.

Now how about the leisure and fun part you mentioned?

Because they’re narrow minded little Cajuns that have never been to God’s country and only believe what they’ve heard.

I'm convinced that the only reason that North Louisiana hasn't become a part of Arkansas is because south Louisiana needs the tax money. It sure isn't going towards the roads in North Louisiana. At least not the major ones that matter. Frick south Louisiana.

North LA is fine. It may look more like the piney woods of Arkansas, but that's not why I dislike the area. I personally like the piney woods of Arkansas. It's good deer country.

I have nothing against the land of northern LA, but evangelicals and Cowboy fans can be very annoying

In. Adams Drive.

They lived in WC until my grandmother died in the late 90's, my grandfather finally threw in the towel on the area and moved out not long after she passed away.

I spent many summers and holidays there from the mid-70s through the mid-90s, enough to watch the town crumble.

I guess that's why so many Ex-Pat South Louisianaians live in Texas.

I've split my time on earth almost equally between Monroe, Lafayette and New Orleans. I have affection for the whole state and think it all has redeeming qualities. But threads like these really show how insulated and basically clueless many people are in South Louisiana are when it comes to the rest of the world. Ignorance is bliss I suppose..

I don't. But judging from the headlines many of those living in certain areas of both hate everything around them.

Their bodies where chained and sunk into Lafourche on the back of my property. True story. There is a whole cultural divide that exists at Red Hill where the delta is separated from the pine hills. The book Rising Tide does a great job of capturing this.

Damn, TIL about Murders of Mer Rouge. That's kinda fricked.

It's an interesting story. Mer Rouge is a delta town. Bastrop is a pine tree town. The are separated by 6 miles and more importantly, Red Hill. Red Hill is where the Mississippi alluvial plain stops, and two different lifestyles merge. The rednecks on the hill in Bastrop hated the negro. The planters below the hated liked the negro. In the case of Watt Daniels and Tom Richards (any several other prominent planters in Mer Rouge), they loved them. That's ultimatly what got Watt and Tom whipped, castrated and drowned behind my house. The klan told Watt and Tom to quit fornicating with the sistas. Watt and Tom told them to pound sand.

Nobody in south LA thinks about north LA. Y'all might as well be Outer Alabama.

Sounds like you have a inferiority complex. I have lived in South Louisiana my entire life and don’t know anyone that hates North La.

Also need to add that South LA is the economic powerhouse of the state.

What

Catholics like to eat, drink, and be merry in public. Their church fairs feature gambling, live rock n roll music, and tons of booze. I have yet to go to a wedding in North Louisiana that wasn't dry, and none of them had a band or any dancing at the reception.

Baptists do drink, but they tend to do so at home, as being a dunken lout in public is heavily frowned upon. North Louisiana has some serious "footloose" people in many parts of the state, but it's not as bad as it used to be when many of the parishes up there were still dry.

The real reason for animosity on the part of South Louisiana towards the north is truly just the disconnect. Those in South Louisiana literally have no reason to ever go there. In fact, the only reasons I have gone to North Louisiana in the last 10 years was a couple times for weddings, once to visit Poverty Point, and once for work.

Since people in South Louisiana never go there, they can believe whatever they want about the place. Shreveport may as well be the frozen Tundra of northern Alaska because South Louisiana folks have no idea what either one is really like. It's a completely foreign place with which they have no connection and no reason to ever visit.

Let's be honest, coonasses tend to only go so many places:
South Louisiana where they're from
Biloxi to gamble
Gulf Shores/Florida Panhandle to the beach
Orlando for Disneyworld
Houston for work
Atlanta for a football game
Gatlinburg or Breckenridge (if they're bougie) to ski

That's pretty much it. There's a lot of folks from South Louisiana who have probably visited Paris or Rome more times than they've ever been to Monroe, Alexandria, or Shreveport. It might as well not exist in their minds.

Because we talk normally in NELA and don't sound like we have something in our mouth.

That cajun accent can be annoying as hell.

It's basically because South LA is full of short, mean, little cajun men that have a Napoleon complex. They need some type of dick measuring contest and this is what they resort to.
