The Murders of Mer Rouge, 1920s.
Their bodies where chained and sunk into Lafourche on the back of my property. True story. There is a whole cultural divide that exists at Red Hill where the delta is separated from the pine hills. The book Rising Tide does a great job of capturing this.

It was one of the funniest things down there. The idea that these people are high class and so much better than everyone else.
Bless their hearts.

Does north Louisiana have great hunting and fishing? Hunting, maybe. Fishing is certainly better in south Louisiana.
Well it depends. The hunting is definitely better up North, especially duck hunting, and I’d say the deer hunting as well. The freshwater fishing is debatable. Some of the biggest bass are in the lakes and bayous in North LA, but there are plenty of places to catch bass down here. Sac-a-lait out the arse up there too, especially in Lake Darbonne. I know they’re down here too, but I felt like there were more up there. Btw, they call sac-a-lait White Perch up there.
I went to school at ULM, and lived in Monroe for about 5 years, and I definitely enjoyed my time up there. Definitely felt different than South LA, not as much Cajun food and seafood but the regular country cooking is pretty damn good up there. But for someone who loves to hunt and fish, I sure did have fun up there. I consider any part of the state that can contribute to the Sportsman Paradise, to be considered Louisiana.

You cannot get decent food outside of South Louisiana.
To be fair, South MS has some decent eateries, but mostly due to cultural influence from SELA.
But yeah, pretty much north of BR? the food sucks.
I actually like much of North Louisiana in general, but the quality of food definitely drops in direct proportion to northward movement in the state.
There are a few exceptions: Natchitoches, for example, is a jewel in the rough.

Because y'all are Cowboys fans
From when I was in middle school until probably 07/08. All you got up here were Cowboys games, so it isn't surprising there are still quite a few Cowboys fans. It wasn't until 2011 when suddenly the majority of the people here were Saints fans.
I enjoy rooting for the Saints, and honestly wish I was a Saints fan, but it's just too late for me to switch.

North is mostly Baptist. South is mostly Catholic.

Similar situation as Yugoslavia, think Balkans, but not as rough.
Born in Ellick but graduated high school in Houma then LSU.
I felt more welcomed in Boston Mass. .
Louisiana has some murder serious cliques, both north and south.

Maybe?
Then why are so many south Louisiana neck beards hunting in North Louisiana?
The worst thing that can happen to your hunting land is people from south Louisiana moving in next door.

I know man. Its impossible to find good food north of I-10 in Louisiana. Everyone the world over is starving or will starve.
Its one of those great anomalies of life. The only place food is edible is South of I-10 in La.

A long time ago someone once said "the farther you get from Louisiana, the more people think the only thing in the state is New Orleans". To a very large extent, this is true and it has impacts within the state as well.
I was born and raised in North La, spent most of my first 40 years up there with many holidays spent at my grandparents' place in White Castle and now the last decade+ here in Baton Rouge so I've had plenty of time to see this from both sides.
The majority of the state's population lives south of Alexandria, with the majority of that living below I-10/12.
While North and CenLa have the redneck culture, that's pretty much it. It's generic throughout much of the South. As others have said, it's not much different than what you would find in South Arkansas or Western Mississippi.
The Cajun culture, on the other hand, is far more unique and defined and (due to New Orleans and population) it's thus more associated with "true" Louisiana than is North or Central Louisiana when viewed by non-Louisianians. Internally we refer to this as the state actually being 3 different states (North/Central LA, Acadiana/Cajun Country and New Orleans).
It's not "hate" so much as "cousins we haven't seen for a long time who aren't quite like we are" and it goes both ways.

really no reason why South LA/South MS don't merge and become one state while and North LA/North MS become another.

Louisiana comes dead last in everything. The southern part of the state has all the control. Yet they still elect people like Edwards. It wasn’t the north that elected him. The north would much rather be a part of Tex or Ark. New Orleans and BR are both becoming 3rd world countries. I like south Louisiana fine, but I’m just saying where the disconnect comes from. The north has no ties to the south and the south just keeps putting crappy ignorant people in state elected positions.

I'd rather Texas and Louisiana do a trade of Shreveport/Bossier for Beaumont.

Baptists drink, they just go to church on Sunday.
Never had trouble getting booze in NW La, like I did North Arkansas.
