For the vast majority of passenger use cases, they are (or have the potential to be) a better vehicle.

We are at the very tip of EVs and in a ton of objective metrics they dick-slap ICE vehicles which is an industry that has had 100 years to mature.

Because the beloved ICE car has been bastardized to within an inch of its life to appease the government, making them needlessly complex.

All of these "additions" are for economy and emissions:

1) Turbos. Not terrible, but not as reliable as naturally aspirated.
2) CVTs. Get that shite out of there.
3) Auto stop at redlights. I will not buy a car with this that will not allow me to defeat it.
4) all this direct injection stuff...I my truck has TWO fuel systems (direct and port injection)
5) 10 speed autos. Useless. My son has a 14 year old 4 runner with a 5 speed that is flawless and just idles on the freeway. No gear hunting.
6) Diesels..high pressure fuel pumps, def, particulate filters--they are a shell of what they once were.
7) Hybrids. Why stick with tried and true? Let's mate TWO power-trains together. What could go wrong?

If you can give me a pristine 1995 Ford F150 with a V8? I want that.

But compared to modern vehicles? A simpler electric car seems mighty appealing, especially for short trips.

I don't give a frick if they're electric or gas powered. I just want them to be automated so we can remove morons from behind the wheel. Too many people not paying attention and kids who have grown up with being able to look at their phone 24/7.

Imagine a world without traffic. All cars connected via networks. No need for stop signs or red lights. It'll just adjust speeds to time the crossings without stopping.

Just how do you think they make that wonderful thing called electricity?

edited to rephrase:

Yes, electricity still causes pollution to make. But it can be made in more remote areas and thus reduce city smog.

Sure because we have government mandated fuel economy and things like that but if EVs are superior in every way than ICE vehicles will phase out over time. But they aren't so we need government to mandate them because climate change.

I have no issue with electric vehicles and people using them however they want. To me it's personal choice.

But they shouldn't be getting any kind of tax incentives of breaks of any kind for driving one.

Who said that we do? With that said, I have no problem with them being an option. If someone wants one and buys it.. Then good for them. If someone doesn't want one and buys a vehicle that runs on gas or diesel.. Good for them as well.

nothing against them.

i have enjoyed watching the technology grow and continue to grow as demand picks up.

I’m all for people wanting own them, i just believe the government shouldn’t be in the business of deciding which type of vehicle citizens drive based on politicized and polarized climate silliness.

The government steps in to protect the big 3 with regulations and tariffs at every turn.

Neither ICE nor EV are superior in every way. They both have advantages and drawbacks.

I believe in EV’s if and only if they are cheaper and more convenient than ICE’s.
