re: Why do these riots always seem to happen out west or up north?

I’m aware of Alton Sterling. And as I said I know it happens down south, just not as frequently as out west or up north.

To add to your post, when racist stuff happens in the south, it's a reflection of the area but when racism happens elsewhere it's a reflection on that individual alone.
Just recently some topics I've seen on other forums are obviously this Minneapolis situation, the lady in the dog park calling the cops on that black guy in New York, and that cop in Louisiana that said those comments about the coronavirus affecting black people. I haven't seen anyone on other forums say that Minneapolis or New York were racist havens when those incidents came about but when discussing that Louisiana cop I can't tell you the number of comments I've seen along the lines of "it's Louisiana, of course they're racist over there". It's self-fulfilling prophecy for them.

It's why it's so hilarious when people from the Northeast or California lecture us on diversity or racial matters.
This. I had a buddy from E Coast come to LSU. In the beginning he called us all racists. By the end of his first semester he was an actual racist.
People up north are more prone to racism IMO. Never being around large groups of anything other than white people, while only having positive minority race interactions (those who "broke out" per se) can lead to some pretty intense racial / cultural whiplash. Often times, people react in anger and disgust when presented with such a shift in gears. Seen it happen multiple times with carpet bagger friends. 2 from east coast. One from Great Britain.

I have some Italian friends in Cleveland and Pittsburgh that could probably give them a run for their money. They're always so surprised when I don't get down with their racism because I'm "from the south."

We're pretty diverse here, we just don't have a large AA population.

Yeah, but remember when the outside agitators were suggesting they move the mob down toward LSU, and all the locals were like “naw dawg, them white boys down there crazy.”
Because they want soft, easy targets. And guess what, the hood in NBR is already burned out, falling down and abandoned. Almost all the stores worth a shite have left. There’s no ripe targets. And the ripe targets are in areas that, if they started their shenanigans there, they’d be met with force.

I have a close friend from rural Pennsylvania that always talked about how racist people were in the south.
He moved to South Louisiana and all of a sudden started to actually see black people on a daily basis and started spouting off shite that would make an old white klan member blush.

Yes but Asians and Hispanic people don't count towards diversity for most progressives
Diverse = AA

Rioting like we see in Minnesota happened in Baton Rouge 4 years ago?
Being that I live a few miles from the police station on Airline, I must have missed the burning buildings and looted properties...

This is so true.
ETA: After thinking on it some more, hispanics definitely count. ONLY if they're illegal immigrants though.

I’ll give you these. BR handled their riots really well, imo. Almost zero property damage, and the guy who attacked the BRPD officers was an out of state agitator.

Florida is the South
Sorta. The panhandle certainly is, but the further south you go, the more It turns into New Jersey due to all the snowbirds and retirees. Orlando is such a transplant/tourism town that there’s hardly any southerners living there.

Texas is the South
Houston and East Texas is arguably southern, but the rest of the state is absolutely not. Texas is Texan.

It didn't. There were protests and from what I remember the city of Baton Rouge was praised for allowing citizens their right to protests and not allowing anything else to happen.
