I'm not talking about the poors, who can't afford to go anywhere. I'm talking about middle class and up. Mainly white people, and many of them live in Jefferson Parish.

I know people who can't even fathom living somewhere else. Not because they made a conscious decision that they love it here more than some other place, but because the very idea of living somewhere else does not compute. I think it's not just provincialism, but a lack of intelligence and mental curiosity, or a lack of desire for self betterment.

(Oh, and most of these folks talk like yats.)

It’s not limited to NOLA, this applies to Louisiana in general.

That applies to towns and cities all across the country. Why single out NOLA?

Bc if they move to other cities it won’t matter where they went to high school and what street their mom and them live on

It applies to the world’s population.

If Nigeria is so terrible, why don’t you just move?

If we move, we become alcoholics over night.

Exactly, it applies everywhere and to single out New Orleans means the OP has probably never left either.
I left New Orleans for college then went to Dallas for a few years and moved back for about 9 years before moving to NJ. And lots of people up here don't leave the town where they are from
