I give the city a hard time one here. In actuality, it’s a fantastic place to visit on vacation. I always encourage people to visit but like any big city you have to use common sense.
It’s a fricking horrible place to live but so is 98% of Louisiana

Visited there last month. Spent an entire day in Wynwood because there was so much to do there. Will definitely go back again

Nola had a much worse murder problem in the early 90’s, but it was pretty confined.
BR may have been worse in that time frame with murders.
Hell even little Plaquemine was very bad.

Because we take better care of our guests than we do ourselves. What you read here (come on) and locally in general is for people who live here. The negatives of every day life here don’t affect tourists very often. Most crime doesn’t happen to tourists despite the number of them that come through here yearly.

NOLA is NOLA, you can go visit some other cites and have a mediocre time with mediocre music and food, gotta live on the edge brah. Come down, you won’t be dissatisfied or die. Lol

My brother lived there in 1993. It's WAY worse now, by anyone's standards.
Care to elaborate?
Since that was 30 years ago I’m sure you have some data to back up that claim

Ummm…there’s still (a few) great jazz bars and (many) great restaurants.

The food is still delicious, the architecture is still beautiful and different from everywhere else in the U.S., the music is still fun, and they hope the bad stuff won’t happen to them.

out-of-state tourists, many of whom looked like they were from the CA and NY. Are these people super oblivious to how bad New Orleans has gotten?
If they die, they die.

I had forgotten about you, you’re one of the biggest idiots on this site. Which I know is a hell of a statement.

I really missed New Orleans and all of Louisiana during my decades away. Now that I'm back in Louisiana I miss the old New Orleans so much more.

Sorry your fave city is a shithole. Cope harder.

Because real life isn't the OT Lounge

New Orleans is at once a shithole and also a blast of a city.
Both can be true.
