I didn’t say they were identical in reality; I said the human brain basically treats them the same. Fear of failure is tremendously debilitating.

It really is kind of sad. My high school friends that went to the hometown college still have essentially the same friends and are exactly the same as they were in high school. I went off to college and am still really good friends with my high school friends, as in been in most of their weddings, but I've also made friends that live from LA, to New York City to Miami.

Most humans are very simple in nature and don’t ever feel the need to branch out, grow, make a name, etc.
That is perfectly ok, society needs these people.

There’s nothing wrong with staying where you grew up. And moving somewhere else doesn’t make you “grow as a person.”
Just because you aren’t capable of living a fulfilling and happy life where you grew up doesn’t mean other people aren’t. Seems like you’re looking for validation for your life choices.

There ain't shite in Blanchard, LA except for Dixie League Baseball.
Everyone I know that stayed has been to rehab for heroine or selling pussy at hotels.

Doesn’t make you, but allows you to.
There’s a reason for the Biblical adage that a prophet is honored everywhere but his hometown. It’s really hard to “grow” when people are happy to bring up the time you did something stupid in elementary school.

Are you married, kids?
Wife and I considered moving to the Northshore, and didn’t because all of our family was on the Southshore. When you need to have someone watch kids in an emergency situatuon, it helps having family around..

I've lived other places besides BR but it has been nice raising my daughter around my parents, sister and her kids etc.

I've been trying to explain AP's 'trashy-rich' demographic for years to Baton Rouge folks. You're exactly right. It's seen all over the parish when
The big arse Caddy Escalade with big arse rims pulls up to little league and out jumps 5 little white kids and mama. She's in her designer daisy dukes, sunglasses, and shoes.
Her T-shirt is tight and looks like she simply ordered two of her son's size baseball shirt to cover her big ole lovely fake titties.
Dad shows up in his FRC from Shell, BASF, etc.
This is 100% real and I love it.

Never understood this either.
There's a big world out there. Try and get our of your tiny little corner and experience the rest of it.

Home is where the heart is, I guess. My family has been in Madisonville for seven generations. Many of us have ventured out into the world for work, military service, or other, but we always end up back in Madisonville.
It could be more of a southern thing.

Most of the world sucks just as much as the shitty town everyone grew up in.

because they want to because they want to get away from their “controlling parents” or “small-minded people” by moving to a big city and becoming a SJW.
So wanting to move to a larger city that has numerous amenities that small hometown USA doesn’t have means they’ll become a SJW? You seem slightly triggered.

I don’t agree. Most of the areas we go to around the Houston metro are pretty damn cool compared to things we used to go to in La. it’s like jumping in a time machine when you cross the Sabine River
