You could ask people who have lived in subdivisions all their lives why they hate the idea of living far away from people and entertainment because that might make their skin crawl.
Important life lesson: not everyone thinks the same as you.

Did you not read my entire post. I said how boring life would be if we all liked the same thing. I don't expect everyone to like what I like.

Subdivisions with restrictions are for "like minded" people.

Why do people live in “the country” on an overcrowded 2 lane road on a giant lot with that takes a whole day to mow? To me that’s much less appealing than a subdivision and that’s exactly how most people who call themselves from the country live.

Most people who live in the country don’t have to spend all day mowing their grass

People live in the country to escape the people who can't keep their nose in their own business. The hall monitor types.

Because i like living on a street where stay at home moms and old ladies will call the police when “those we don’t speak of” wonder onto my street.

As others have said. Kids. They love the social aspect. Security. If you travel for work, it is nice having other watch your place. Schools. You are around like minded people who value education. Investment. Burb homes will increase at a higher rate than rural homes. And finally, no one parks their 8 junk cars in front of their house.

I mean most would rather have a castlevania somewhere in the mountains but a subdivision is where most of us end up.. not everyones got a million on standby, its not so bad

Even for me, there is no perfect home location, lot size, etc.
And I am certain the same applies to everyone else.
Sure there are better places than others, but no place is perfect.
The reason is our needs are in conflict with what we "want". There are times we want our privacy, there are times we don't want to fool with a large lot( acreage).
There are times we need a short commute, there are times it doesn't matter.
There are times we need to be close to stores, sometimes we are glad we are far removed.
I can go on and on, but the same applies to any example you can come up with.

Yeah, I'd live in the country if said country was a nice piece of property where I could afford all the amenities to make it a nice place to live. But I'm literally thinking million dollar home.
I grew up on a few acres in a more rural area. Live in a subdivision now where I'm more "on top of each other" than most. It's really not that big of a deal. I mean, I cant pee off the back patio anymore, but it hasn't ruined my life. The benefits within 10 minutes are huge in our current situation (parks, splash pad, pools, running trails, stores, restaurants, concerts, etc). I'm on the edge of the suburban area with super country living a quarter mile away. I have no interest in dealing with that extra property at the moment. No benefit other than being able to argue with my wife louder without the neighbors maybe hearing
. More space between houses would be nice, but it's not close to a deal breaker.

At this point in my life, I prefer convenience. Adding 1 hour round trip to my work day makes my skin crawl. A couple blocks away from my house are multiple restaurants, 3 grocery stores, dry cleaners, health club and everything else I need.
I grew up in a rural area and couldn’t wait to live in a subdivision. It’s nice to run home for lunch if I feel like it.

I’m not a huge fan of subdivisions but it’s certianly not Rush’s worst work.

Where do you live again? It would have at least 1.5 hours to find anything moderately affordable that’s a I would want. Not worth the three hours of day of travel to spend all weekend bushhogging and cleaning fences and keeping out trespassers.

I live in the country and love it, but as a owner of a lawn care business I LOVE subdivisions especially when I have one with multiple yards.

But you have an excuse to buy a tractor. You can then ride that tractor.

Some people don’t want 30 minute longer commute. Some people don’t want acres to maintain. Some people don’t care about privacy.
Some people aren’t like you.
If they were, everyone would live in rural areas and cities wouldn’t exist. You would have no place to hang out on the wkends since there is nothing to do in the country

We just moved in a subdivision from owning 3 acres. It has taken some getting used to but we like it so far. Super nice not having to pick up branches before cutting grass for an hour & half and all the extra bullshite that comes with land. Commute is great, I can grab a bite to eat or run to Kroger in 5 minuets vs 30.
