Why do people insist on driving fast through subdivisions?

I live in a middle class subdivision with lots of school age children and it amazes me how fast people insist on driving especially around sharp curves often going fast enough they go into the other lane. Do people not even think how dangerous this is with so many kids playing? Anyone here guilty of this? Are you really in that big of a hurry to risk running over a child?

Well that's a great reason to speed through neighborhoods.

Those 25 stop signs per half-mile are infuriating

So they can race to their crummy W2 jobs where they spend the first two hours of the day drinking coffee and pooping.

My house is approximately halfway down our dead end street and there are people doing 40 to 50mph heading to the end.
Btw, my street is barely a 1/4 mile, if that. If anyone guilty is seeing this post:

Agreed. I love to drive fast but damn, how hard is it to stay at 20-25 when kids and animals are around.

So kids can't walk to a friend's house and people can't walk their dogs?
