40 in a 30 is not fast. There’s a difference between driving a little over the speed limit and zooming down a subdivision/neighborhood street.

Driving 40 in a subdivision with sharp blind curves is extremely fast. The limit in my subdivision is 25 though.

Why do subdivisions insist on having ridiculously low speed limits? Some neighborhoods around here have 10mph speed limits, I mean really?

Also teach your kids that roads are for cars not for kids. If they want to play outside that's what back yards are for!

Why is it so hard to just obey the speed limit and not speed through neighborhoods?

The speed limit is not the problem. The problem is that you have kids playing next to roads. They are at risk no matter what the speed limit is.

This is some really screwed up logic.

If you let your kids (whose conduct you somewhat control) play outside in close proximity with adults (whose conduct you do no control) driving multiton vehicles, then your logic is really screwed up.

When exactly did it become outside the norm for kids to play and ride their bikes etc in residential neighborhoods? What the frick is wrong with you. Grow the frick up and quit acting like an idiot and speeding through subdivisions.

I'll pose to you the same question I asked earlier. What is one logical reason to drive ten miles over the speed limit in a subdivision?

You'd do better sitting out curbside in a lawn chair with a megaphone.

When my kids were little I had a POS truck I would park in the street when they were playing in the front yard blocking more than half the street which was already narrow, most of the, cars had little choice but to slow down. Most of the neighbors liked, but someone did call the cops who told don't worry about.

51.

You need to train your kids to not trust other people to do the "right thing", or place them in situations where their lives depend on it.

How old are you?

Because the more time you spend checking your speedometer, the less time you spend watching the road ahead.

I know when I’m going fast and when I’m not. If I creep up to 40 mph on a straightaway I am in no way being unsafe.

So you know when you are going the posted it speed limit in a subdivision and when you are exceeding it by ten mikes an hour or more. Which is safer?
