I don't understand why it should cost so much.

Because any bum can finance one for ten years now. Maintenance separates the wheat from the chaff.

What kind of oil is it? How much are you getting?

I pay around 150 for 8 quarts of full synthetic, and I drive a mustang gt.

Takes more oil. Oil changes usually are 5 quarts. Some cares take over 7. That cost about $50 more on average if you are using high mile synthetic.

Yeah I go to the Jeep dealership for mine and never pay more than $40 for an oil change (that also usually includes a tire rotation and quick inspection of my other fluid levels, tire pressures, brakes, etc).

Yeah we're talking jiffy lube, etc. Do you go to the same dealer where you purchased your vehicles? May have to try that

It only COSTS about $60 to do it yourself. BMW CHARGES whatever they think you'll pay.

It's worth noting that oil changes are included for first few years of ownership.
