have you priced synthetic oils lately? $10 a quart is about average "if not cheap" so lets say 6 quarts = $60 plus $10 oil filter and your at $70 right there for supplies.
now here is the kicker, just like you pay a tire disposal fee when buying new tires, you get charged disposal fee for the used oil too so lets say thats $5 more and you are at $75 right there so they are charging you $50 labor for an oil change which is the going rate for 1/2 hours work.
if you changed it your self it costs you $60

Plus three single quarts $7.68 x 3 = $23.04
Plus a Mobil 1 oil filter = $9.97

Because you are willing to pay it.
The oil filters on the bmws are stupid too. Why do I have to take shite apart to change the oil.
And what the hell with the water cooled alternator and the thermostat tubing that you have to pull the engine apart to repair?
Had so many issues, went back to the e38. To me the "old Maytag" of the big body Bavarians.(op gets it)

In 2000 I bought a 1997 BMW 740i that had been turned in at the end of a three year lease .
Took it to Brian Harris on Airline for an oil change where they changed the oil and oil filter, both air filters ( engine and a/c ) and " checked" a long list of fluids and tire pressure type stuff.
The bill was just over $800!

BTW this was before they started using synthetic oil!

Because newer cars in general dont need oil changes as frequently. $125 every 3 or more months is cheap.
