I've done external audit work for towns all the way up to big federal agencies. At the federal level, you'd be surprised at the education even staff level have. I'm talking degrees from places 95% of this board couldn't even dream of getting in to.

I've met excellent employees at some of the places that have the worst reputation. There are plenty of awful employees in the private sector. The issue with public agencies is there is no incentive to improve or be efficient. You could change this dynamic but the taxpayer would scream about that too.

Not when you start looking at the nuts and bolts. Point to 1 National Park service site where the infrastructure isn't starting to fail.

32 year military retiree here. Although I was AF (which is the best of the services) I have deployed with and worked with the Army and Marines (not so much the Navy and don't think of the USCG as a military branch). The military as a whole is a very inefficient and bloated organization with incompetence at many levels. Near unlimited money, resources and technology is what puts our military above others.

Government isnt in the business of making or saving money, theyre in the business of "creating jobs". Think about it that way and it all makes sense.

The ones with smarts have the higher up jobs that the general public don't interact with

Oh "smart" people like James Comey, John Brennan, etc.? Often, the smartest, most dedicated federal employees with common sense are at the worker level such as your average FBI special agent, Air Traffic Controller or DEA Agent. I can promise you the smartest ones aren't at or near the top. They are generally ones who have agendas or didn't enjoy (or weren't good at) the entry jobs they were hired to do.

I have seen a few post office folks who are good workers and genuinely have a positive attitude.

This is true of most government agencies, but that doesn't fit the narrative being written in this thread.

The stereotyping of government employees is just that--a stereotype. Yes, it fits alot of people, but there are also a fair amount of good, hard working people that work for the government.

Also Medicare works well from what I hear.

Medicare is awful. This is why so many people choose private Medicare advantage plans. United, Humana, et al manage to deliver better care and turn enormous profits.

Imo not talking about high level.

This is almost too much for me to type rt now. But from the Frontline people you deal with at the courthouse, the dmv, the post office. Those people have no ambition and only ignorance.

So much to go into for individual positions but then again you can look at My city rt now, New Orleans. We have a functioning retard as a mayor.

Sewer and water? They literally hit the pump with a fricking wrench to try to fix it because they don't know how. You are running these things on electric systems built almost 100 years ago.

And yes the private sector is full of shite. But have you tried to open a private business and delt with government? It has nothing to do with me crying about them doing something diff, they all already do something diff, from city to city county to county.

You can be 10 feet away from a county you have been doing business in and this one has a totally diff set of rules and totally diff people you have to deal with.

I mean you are talking about something I never deal with. Never have I delt with the FBI or DEA. Ever.

I don't necessarily know if they are dumb or just corrupt. There is a difference.
