They haven't. Check out the toy ailses in Walmart and Target. They have lots of them.

All the good kids shows became really girly. So boys just are not as into them anymore. There always has to be a lead female and the boys are just dumbasses. Or the boys are dressed as cats and the girls are the boy type characters.

because of video games, kids no longer play with toys

some have tried making action figures taken from video games, but they flopped, and no one bought them, because kids just want more games not toys made from figures in the games

I think the creative aspects with action figures is in pretend play. Kids typically created varying fantasy worlds or storylines or dialogues from day to day to go along with their dolls or action figures, acting out plots, acting out emotions, making choices and exploring positive and negative outcomes in a safe environment. I do think video games also provide some of this, though.

Never had action figures but I'm thinking about buying this one.

We've probably gotten rid of 5 captain America and spiderman ones just in the last year.

A couple of weeks ago, our basement den looked like the beaches of Normandy with all the little green Army men, diecast airplanes and lego minifigs strewn about. I don't know what kind of battle our 11 year old had dreamed up, but it was epic...

It doesn’t help that all those IP were overtaken by woke idiots.

Because the digital age gives more stimulation to the imagination.

Probably when we were playing with He-Man dolls some old timers were asking why marbles and jacks weren’t popular anymore.

Took my 3 and 5 year old boys to play golf with my father in law at his club. We're on the putting green getting ready, I turn around and my 3 year old has a bunch of marbles and jacks out on the green He had taken them from my inlaw's house and stored them in his little golf bag, I guess this was the first time the opportunity presented itself for him to get the jacks out

bullshite.

If you’re not shoving an iPad or controller in their face 24/7, they’re still very much playing with toys. Even action figures.

This was all we needed growing up. We would split them up 50/50, go on opposite sides of the kitchen, and go to war taking turns with either a rubber band or metal ball.

The question was always, do you line your guys up and hope they can't score a direct hit or spread them out and know they're likely gonna do damage on a bunch of throws...

My 8 yr old son plays with action figures all the time.

I'll catch hell here, but he also plays barbies with his sister.

I have a hard time making my daughter play army with him if he plays barbies with her.

I'd say video games are the culprit.

My generation had the 12" GI Joes, we spent a lot of time in the yard setting them up in cool locations- and then shooting them with BB guns, hitting them with dust clods (would simulate smoke and then the explosion), etc.

Seems easier to just play a first person shooter now. You get the same basic entertainment, although I doubt you get the same exercise and cognitive stimulation (we had to build bases from bricks and branches, etc). Now you're in a chair moving a mouse and typing.

Same thing with swordplay imagination= I look at things like Dark Souls etc, they look fantastic. We'd get some bamboo sticks and garbage can lids, and duel on top of the cinderblock firewall at the back of the yard, stuff like that.

Madden on the playstation seemed to replace the afterschool backyard games we'd have at the kid's house down the street with the long, treeless back yard.

Video games have, by and large, replaced a lot of the outdoor play we had. You do it in pairs or by yourself, eliminating the larger neighborhood groups we had. Everyone had Schwinn Stingray bikes, which were necessary to get together and travel in a relatively quick manner.

We've bred kids with less physical stamina and less socialization.

Ummmm, I know many people with kids younger than 10. They all have action figures, baw. Have you been in a toy aisle lately? Tons of action figures: Marvel, DC, SW, WWE, JP, and countless others. Action figures are still a thing.
