Yep.

See the same with white trash in WI. Baby mommas have four kids with three dads.

My graduating class had less than 40 people. Of those 40 people, 6 married their high school bf/gf. None dated someone in their own class. 6 couples.

Of those six, all are still married 25 years later.

Had I married the woman I was supposed to, rather than a little goth with a fat arse and a dick sucking obsession... I'd likely be number 7.

C'est la vie.

I married mine. Started dating in ‘79; married in ‘85; still going VERY strong. Looking at her now moving around the kitchen. If we weren’t watching grandkids I’d nail her this morning. (Middle of the night post because we are overseas)

The shocking thing here is people are nearly 30 years old before they get married. It’s why the population is in trouble. People only have time to have one kid.

Im not sure this graph is accurate. I just read that Nevada has the highest divorce rare of all states but this one isn't showing that.

Red states are also God’s country, meth country, welfare country, the most patriotic area of the nation is the south. Hell look at most of our Louisiana politicians. You ain’t gotta work too hard to get elected to somethin big. Just flex patriotism and align yourself with the right wing and you’re halfway there unless you’re in Nola. Everywhere else in the state though? Hell just say your pro life, post some outdoorsy pictures with your babies and have a smokin hot wife. Ever better posing holding shotguns to flex your gun rights. Praise the Lord and pass tha ammo is the motto. So many good ol patriotic voting Christian people here. American by birth, southern by the grace o God baw.

A large part is economic.

People from the surrounding states travel to AR specifically because it is cheaper and easier for both marriage and divorce. AR will still allow as young as 13 to marry especially if both sides parents/guardians agree. Less time and expense to divorce there also. (Before the NBA came to OK they briefly had a 25%/kid child support law making it impossible to divorce with multiple children essentially. Knew several guys that quit corporate jobs to wash dishes for a year or two to afford to divorce.)

Maybe this has been addressed/ruled out, but first thing that came to mind was cost of living.

Maybe if a state is less expensive to live in, it makes single motherhood more of an option?

Why? If parents raise their kids correctly and instill proper values in their children, marriages immediately after highschool (or that age) have worked for all of human history until the sexual revolution of the 70’s

It's a combination imo of a lot of cultural as well as economic forces/realities. A lot of the states where the rates are higher have a greater rural...or non urban society, so therefore traditional expectations still persist, i.e. try and match up with your mate by senior year of high school or before either gets to 21. Plus there is less of a pool to draw from as opposed to NYC, Chicago, Dallas,Miami or the West Coast.

But, these more traditional areas are not immune from modern cultural influences either.....and in places like Arkansas in particular divorce is cheap. I suspect that behaviors largely have not changed but options have. There have always been deadbeat dads.....drunks, philandering types. There have always been bitchy nags of women as well and sometimes the two pair up with less than desirable results for them and their progeny.

I think it's more complicated than what can really be discussed on a chat board

Facts

You have to be attracted to a woman and she has to like you before it ever gets to divorce.

This stat is dumb because it is divorce per woman, any woman, not divorce per married woman. Completely misleading.

Marrying young is the biggest indicator.

quote:

Couples who get married at age 20 are 50 percent more likely to divorce than couples who wait until they’re 25, with 28 being the "sweet spot"

Liberal men are cucks and they don't care that their wives screw other guys. So cheating is celebrated and they stay married.
