This is from one small snapshot this AM.

The Central had held on lead tight, but missed a chance to increased its 30-27 by turning the ball over on downs at the 2:27 mark.

"Man, this is a tough," Edwards said. "This is such a special group and they played so hard. But is the beauty and cruelness of the game. You're can be either a first down or a touchdown away from winning."

This is all the time. I have completely stopped reading the advocate because the grammar is awful.

I gave up reading the advocate a year or so ago. What’s really unfortunate is there are tons of articles that are just like this throughout the paper.
Front page articles with horrendous grammar mistakes, missing words and worst of all, to often the information is inaccurate!
It almost seems like a jive, playground publication.

Liberals....same thing. They act like grade schoolers all the time. Have you kept up with politics the last few years?

Well thanks to the collapse of revenue, they no longer have copy editors.

Y'all want your news for free, this is what you get.

It’s not s newspaper anymore, it’s really just a website. Websites only make money by hiring the young and desperate for a pittance. You know, journalism majors (dummies) right out of college. Look at the photos next to most of the bylines. This leads to both the errors AND the liberal slant.

Computers have replaced editors. Stories follow a boilerplate. Answer the who what when where and why and the computer does the rest.

Emphasis is on headlines. Headlines bring clicks. Clicks bring money.

In the past, even mid-market papers would have fairly well paid J-school grads as senior editors now that everyone expects news to be free they simply can't afford them. Add to that papers are competing with everyone that has access to a keyboard and Facebook or a mommy blog to break news and you have the majority of online articles bypassing even the most basic editorial review. Gone are the days when editors would argue over evacuating people vs buildings.

Funny thing, is when you call them out on horrible grammar, punctuation, etc the guy who is supposed to proof read the shite will call you out. I've seen it done here at local paper.

I don't think many papers use a proof reader anymore. It's straight to web/print.
