I have never lived in a trailer, but I would imagine that most people who do live in a trailer would prefer to not live in one. You don't know the reasons why people live where they do.. Either way, I would rather live in a trailer than frick my cousin... Which.. you know.. is common with you Bama fricks.

Made fun of my cousin for living in one. Was foolish, he socked away a ton, bought big piece of property and is building a nice home with cash.

This is what people don't understand. Having nicer things doesn't mean someone is "rich".
A lot of people with new homes and nice vehicles can't sleep at night because they are up trying to figure out how they are going to pay for some type of repair that popped up while making payment on all of their "nice stuff", but hey... As long as they are able to appear to be living a certain life that's all that really matters.. right?

Lived in one for 10 years with my young family. It was park on private lot secluded at the end of a dead end road. Those were some of the best years for us.

Never lived in one.
Visited several way back for poontang maintenance purposes.
Mrs Füt (no pics) lived her first couple of years in one.
Almost bought one in Big Sur, CA in 2010 with my BIL.

setting up a trailer on some land isn’t necessarily inexpensive. i looked into doing it 20 years ago and it was much cheaper to just rent a place. add in how fast the asset depreciates and its hardly a bargain.

I lived mostly in trailers until I was 15. I remember being somewhat ashamed as a kid, but now I don't see the big deal. Rural areas rarely have apartments.
Now, having been pretty successful, one of my main goals is to have humble kids - so we took them to visit the trailer park I grew up in during our last visit back to LA.
It was a combination la cucaracha meets Deliverance shithole, nothing like what I remember. Trailers stacked 3ft from each other. It was pretty quaint as a kid.
My kids were all "We are so sorry, Dad."

After losing nearly everything my family lived in a 3 bedroom single wide for 10 months. Had to rip out a bathroom just to fit our king size bed in one of the tiny bedrooms.
It was next to a creek that the white bass and suckers ran in spring. That was the only good thing about that place.

I know plenty of older folks that live in Trailers. They don't mind it.
I can also tell you that there are millions and millions of people around the world that would kill to live in a trailer in the US.

What about retirees (a lot in Fla.) that have Palm Harbor homes? I saw some brand new doublewides the other day that looked like modular homes. Some people don't want to dump money in a stick built home. I know so many people that are house poor keeping up with the Jones.' Also: to those that pay $500 rent in a trailer to each his own but they really should buy a Clayton home or Palm Harbor.
This board would crap seeing all of the nice doublewides along the intracoastal waterway near surf city. What about tiny homes are they trashy as well?

This is so true. Trailers aren't necessarily foreign to me, although I never lived in one.
My mom's side the family is the epitome of trailer trash. I know I had an aunt who moved onto my grandparents property after her husband died. I believe she paid ~75k for the trailer about 10-12 years ago. She recently moved in with her daughter and gave the trailer to someone because it wasn't worth selling (I'm sure it was destroyed from 10 years of trailer trash living).
On the other hand, my dad's side the family has always been pretty well off. Grandparents owned a farm and were from well-to-do families. Due to the rural-ish nature of their growing up and the wide availability of land, many of my aunts and uncles started out in trailers as a starter house and most are easily upper class in terms of income. It's strange.
But since I grew up seeing mom crappy mom's side, I always associated trailers with trash
