Me. On Bourbon Street in the 90s. With about 12 other guys. Broke out in the bar and spilled into the street. Broke up with the quickness when we heard the NOPD sirens. Ain’t nobody want a night in the OPP.
Many other times in Baton Rouge but not that big. Fist fights used to be pretty common. The age of pussification, cell phone videos, and over policing of every indiscretion has pretty much ended it.

1999, I was 22 years old. A drunk guy about my age wouldn't stop messing with me about some BS I can't remember. I go out to the parking lot to leave and he gets between me and the car. He chests up to me and his buddy knocked the shite out of me from the right side. I honestly don't remember what all happened but a little while later. People separated us, I got a swollen eye and busted lip. My hands are all busted up. The puncher dude is pouring blood out his right ear, his lip is busted and my passenger car window is busted out. The dude who instigated the whole thing is nowhere to be seen.

Since beginning training, I find myself exponentially less likely to get into a fight than before. Too many things can go wrong and not a lot can go right. I'm convinced most fights end up becoming fights because one or both parties deep down don't know what they're doing and that insecurity comes out in false bravado and fights that competent fighters would typically avoid altogether become scraps.
When you train and get your arse whipped on a regular basis, you begin to understand that you're not nearly as bad arse as you think and it's dice roll every time an altercation turns physical.

I've been in a lot of fist fights since elementary school.
Win some, lose some.
I enjoy throwing hands as a sport.
But I generally seek peace and understanding with my fellow man.

I grew up in a military town ghetto. You had to fight to survive especially if you were a white boy. Grew to learn you may not win the fight but will earn respect for putting up a fight. Plus, you can't fight just one so I lost a lot.

#1- got into it with some fellas at mud nationals and a buddy of mine got the gift of reconstructive surgery due to a parrot bay bottle.
#2- right hand infection due to another fellas teeth colliding with my knuckles at a house party.
#3- saw a fella get kicked in the teeth during a fight… I honestly thought he was dead.
#4- I had my forehead split open due to an accidental head but during a fight… actually split both of our heads open and we quit lol.
#5- I wasn’t in this one but I saw a kid at Billy Bobs get his eye socket caved in to the point where his eye bulged out… looked horrible.

The kids that always got into fights in school all ended up being pathetic losers as adults.

we were at mardi gras in front of tenneco on causeway and vets many years ago
a friend dropped an 8 pack on the ground that we had been passing around
some cat picks it up
we say hey cat, thats our package
some other cat steps in and says finders keepers
i say who the fug are you
he says im his bodyguard
i dropped him with a right cross
i tell the cat who had the package that he needs a new bodyguard
he handed it over with the swiftness…

Yeah, the first one that comes to mind for me ended up in prison for stomping a kid’s head in at Highland Rd Park. It wasn’t even his fight.

Grew up on army bases all over the world and fighting was commonplace. I was playing marbles at the playground and these 2 older boys took my marbles so I squared off and they hit me a few times and I ran home and got my brother who was 2 years older than them and they beat him up so I went home and got my oldest brother. My oldest brother and the rest of us tied up and we beat the crap out of them. One of boys called my parents and we all had to go to the kids quarters and his parents said his testicles were swollen and may need to go to the Doctor. I told them my side and his dad whipped him in front of us and I got my marbles back.

I was in high school and college in the nineties. Broken nose, stitches, bruises, etc. You could have brawls like this without it escalating past the event or more than fists. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Hammond. High School brawls, Fraternity brawls, Bourbon St. brawls., Uptown brawls. Stories for days. Most of them end with people not getting arrested and having a beer or becoming friends later on down the road. Straight up blood and the mud and the beer.

During college I bounced at a place called the Road House.
