One should remember that crazy arse Pakistan is a nuclear power. Things could get stupid over there. And nuclear stupid is the worst kind of stupid.

Pakistan has been conducting intermittent air strikes since 2022 after the US evacuation. This is just an escalation of that.
Plus, it sounds like there are two separate Taliban factions that are fighting each other, civil war style.
