Really sad on the misconception of lawyers.

Spencer is bringing home $10 mill a year.
Dudley and Debosier are each bringing home 8 figures a year.
Morris Bart is also bringing home probably $50 mill a year.
Gordon’s take home is insane. He’s the top generator I bet.

Many small personal injury lawyers will make a million or more a year but sometimes they have slow years and only make $300k or so.

Most litigation attorneys make $200k plus. Criminal defense lawyers make $500k plus.

When oil and gas was booming 6 years ago, most oil and gas lawyers are bringing home 7 figures. That’s over right now.

The lawyers that don’t make a lot of money compared to the work they do are
insurance defense lawyers :100k-200k
Family lawyers: 75k-100k
Prosecutors - $70k
Public defenders - $50k
AG’s office - $80-$150k

The firm I work for, lawyers make $200 on low end to 1 million a year just as associates.

It depends on the specialty but if you can try a jury trial and are good, you’ll make money. Not many people can do it.

Whole lot of stupid in this thread. I'm not an attorney but just from reading the news good LA lawyers make bank. On the BP spill alone Domengeaux Wright Morrow and Roy made out with $87 million and they have like maybe 12 lawyers on staff and the 4 with their names on the sign probably took home most of the $87 million. That's just one case, a big one but still just one. Another firm in NOLA got another $87 million from BP.

You're crazy if you think there are 200+ attorneys in LA that routinely gross $1MM+.

In 2015, only 3,660 tax returns in LA were filed by individuals or couples earning 7 figures.

I know two guys who practice law in some type of niche area. One has a speciality niche in mortgage/real estate law in New Orleans quietly makes around $2 to 3 mil a year. Another guy I know who works in the film tax credit world based in New Orleans makes around $2 mil a year. Both of these guys are with small firms but have made national names for themselves in their respective industries. General litigation or guys with broad range practices though I'm not sure I know of any who come close to what these guys make.

There are some lawyers that make that kind of money, but they are a very small percentage of the lawyers out there. Even in the big firms, there are very few that fall into that category or come close. It varies from specialty to specialty and lawyer to lawyer, but the vast majority are not even close. For most, the practice of law offers a comfortable living at best, not a path to riches.

He had a pretty decent sized stake in the Hornets before Benson stepped in. How many ambulance chasers you think have the money to get even a 5% stake in a major professional sports team?

Threads like this make me happy for my career choices.

Lawyers are the worst of the worst, until they are working for you. I can’t tell you how infuriating it is when you get a bill from an attorney with itemized text messages....

Besides the obvious billboard guys, I would say Lewis Ungelsby, between the high profile criminal defendants and the personal injury.

I saw his ads constantly when I lived in Montgomery, Al. Friends of mine have seen his ads in Atlanta. Apparently that scumbag is targeting a certain demographic population of our society.
