4x2 because I needed the greater towing capacity over 4x4. I tow something that would be over the max capacity of any 1/2 ton 4x4 and didn't feel like springing for a 3/4 ton.

I'm happy.

4x4

I play in the snow and half the boat launches I use are primitive at best.

Buy what you need. I went 4x2 since I knew it would be used to haul mulch and similar things. I even took it to the deer lease since the roads were seldom in bad shape.

However, I do have a 2002 Jeep for anything needed off road.

You either pay for 4x4 when you buy it, or pay more when you sell it.

I went 4x4, use it for sketchy launches and during deer season.

Ha. Or buy something that holds its value. Like a Tacoma.

4x4

I have a drive on beach available and it’s a blast. Also handy on boat ramps.

I put mine [17 Taco] in 4wd every time I'm pulling a boat out. I will never own a truck or suv that doesn't have 4wd.

I will never have a 4x2 again. I don't use 4x4 often but it's so great when I do need it. Both of my current trucks are 4x4 and my previous 3 were as well. I probably use 4 wheel drive more than the average person, though.

4x4. It’s not uncommon to need it in the places I go. Not as much anymore as when I was younger, but no regrets.

quote:

A 2 wheel drive truck with the Detroit locker (G80 in the GM trucks) works just fine on slippery boat ramps.

This is true.

And it was only a few hundred dollar option on the GM trucks. Easy choice, and I think a two wheel drive truck with the automatic locker is as good as a 4wd with open diffs for most situations people would encounter.

I had the same decision 6 weeks ago, didn't think I would ever use 4x4. Since then I've already used it twice, once on the property after Zeta took down some trees and a second time to pull out a stuck 4x2 truck on a muddy boat ramp.

So glad I went with 4x4.

Person Chevy Colorado fun wheel around town truck 4x4. Took it off road once and used on a slippery boat ramp once.

Truck I use 90% of the time F150 4x2.

First truck was a 4x4, maybe used it 20 times in the 8 years of ownership. Second truck was a 2wd drive, got stuck 3 times. Quickly retired it to get back into a 4x4. In a year I’ve used it 2 times.

I love in the country, and I could get by with a 4x2, but because I have a 4x4 I can accomplish many tasks easier. Like backing up to my back door with a brand new stove at 9pm last night after a fresh rain because our existing glass top shattered right before Thanksgiving.
