I drive 99.9% pavement. My first midsized truck and I'm leaning 4x4.

If the only offroad you're going to do is missing the turn into your driveway, you have 0 reason to get a 4x4.

I have a 4x2 but next truck I get will be 4x4. Hunting is mostly public land so not allowed to get off main roads anyways. There are some fishing area boat launches that can be kind of sketchy after a rain that I avoid since I don't have 4x4.

Seems like you would know if you needed a 4x4. You hunt / fish?

4x4 tundra. I have a 26ft boat with twin motors and need it sometimes if the boat launch is steep.
Also i use it at the deer camp if it gets muddy.

never owned a 4WD and probably dont need it at all. I took my Sierra 1500 off road a bit in Utah and it was just fine.

A 2 wheel drive truck with the Detroit locker (G80 in the GM trucks) works just fine on slippery boat ramps.

4x4, no regrets.

On my Sierra, the price difference wasn’t all that much.

4x4. You may never use it, but the one time you need it makes it worth it for me.

Towing/hauling capacity will be higher in a 4x2.
It all depends what you use the truck for. Most 4x2 are very capable with today’s technology advancements in suspension and drivetrains. 4x4 will definitely get you out the jam and I promise you always have someone one phone call away with a 4x4 and some tow ropes.

It all comes down to what you will be using it for. If you are in the road 99% of the time, 4x2. If you plan on intentionally taking it off roads (not including gravel), 4x4 may be your better option.

I have a 4x4. Don't need it for what I drive regularly, but we do get some bad weather in the winter, so I have it for that.

The only time you will truly regret your 4x4 decision is if you don't get it.
