I don’t have a boat.
I don’t go off the road.
I drive a lot.
I bought a 4x2.
Wife got it stuck in a muddy grass parking lot one time. I carry a tow strap (usually for others...), and it was out inside of 2 minutes. The vehicle that pulled it out was a 2wd. Would I have gotten it out if it were 4x4 alone? Probably.
But I like the lighter weight on the truck, better fuel economy, and if I ever get into that whole boating or camping thing, I’ll buy a different toy.

Although I don’t use it much, I went 4 x 4 on my Tundra. It’s there if I need it and helps resale value when it’s time to get a new one. I switch to 4wd every now and again to make sure it works. I wanted to make sure I never had issues at the boat launch.

I *had* a 4X2 diesel that got stuck more than once in wet grass and had to have someone pull me up the slickest part of a boat launch a few times. I feel a lot safer on wet roads during cold weather in 4wd too.

It holds its value and then some. Might as well get it.

4WD when I lived half a mile from the beach, used it a few times a week. I moved 2 years ago and haven't used it since.

4x2. I live in the South and don’t go off-road. Depends on your needs.

Went from a Wrangler with a winch (go anywhere) to a 4x2 Tundra. I miss the 4x4.

4x4... If only for resale value. It's worth it.

I always buy 4x4s.i get off road occasionally for work and don't usually need 4 wheel drive but it's nice to know I have it. I was just off road in the chinati mountains near the Mexican border. I never used 4WD but considering there was no cell service and nobody around, I felt better having it as it was steep terrain and some sandy drywashes.

I have 3 4x4s in my driveway. I have never wished for a second that they were 2WD.

It’s about a $3000 option and from what I can tell, it’s about $3000 difference on the used market. I got 4x4 because the deal was for trucks on the lot, and there wasn’t a 2wd available. I love my truck for the ability to haul things I couldn’t normally haul- otherwise I’d have a Tahoe/Expedition.

4x4. You may never use it, but the one time you need it makes it worth it for me.

Meaning you’ve never had to use it.
